^ Need for Speed Shift ^

Im so looking forward to this game. Us PC gamers dont get much in the way of racing games, but this one looks fantastic. It's a cross between GRID and a sim like GT-R, and if EA have spent time and effort on this game (unlike Undercover... Prodrive... Carbon...) then it could prove an awesome racing hybrid.

Can't wait for the release!

Prodrive? You mean ProStreet? :)

As for Carbon, I thought that was pretty good myself albeit heavily based on the (excellent) Most Wanted engine.

oh well, had to happen I suppose. Not a big fan of drift racing myself but seems like every racing game seems to feature it now. Will all be about how the game feels of course but Soderlund seems to be saying that's what they're focusing on so I'm looking forward to it never the less.

We'll see but I thought this was touted as a simulation - real world racing doesn't involve drifting, apart from dedicated drift racing probably because it isn't the fastest way to go round corners on a race track.

Drifting is a real-world motorsport discipline in it's own right, why shouldn't it be included in a simulator?

And of course it isn't the fastest way around the track, that's not what it's about. It's about scoring points from slip angle, speed whilst drifting etc.

Presumably it guarantees a few more sales in Japan by having it in? Surely can only be described as a fringe aspect of motorsport though? Also, never been to a drift event but how the hell do they go about scoring it? It's one thing to have a computer calculating your angle of approach etc but surely in the real world, they have to use human judges?

what does it change for you people if it included drift or not? they still have all the other racing modes.. and i love drifting so i wont be complaining.. if they left it out i probably wouldn't be playing it much.. in drift you can play over and over again.. :]

That's exactly how they do it, they usually have three judges scoring it.

why they just cant bring normal drag race from underground. all they need to do is to remake underground series better visuals damage cops and good multiplayer thats it

prostreet had drag racing. Funny thing was though that if you used the in-car view, you couldn't see the traffic lights!!!! :D
