Need for Speed Time Trial Championship ** Season 2 ** (Multiplatform)

That's just unbelievable Wedge - great time, and I suspect the winning time this week. Any chance you could post the rest of your settings?

Hey Dan, i seem to have found another car/track combo like the Elise a couple of rounds ago, where i just seem to excel. Honestly i can go round lap after lap in the high 51's, low 52's.

As far as tuning goes, im very gentle, as you have said ive posted my main settings, the only other settings i change are the 'Springs & Dampers' I have moved every setting one notch from its default towards stiff. (but will post screenys later)

I personally think its down to driving though (works cars are pretty good at stock), finding the lines and feathering the throttle is really key to keeping momentum.

1st corner, flat out
2nd corner, down to 4th gear, whilst sharp dab on brakes, then turn in hard, get back on the gas, feather the steering out and get striaght asap.
3rd corner (jump) LINE is key here, watch my vid.
4th corner, DONT brake to late, to early is better, all the grip is on the inside/middle of corner.
5th/6th, flat out depending on line (sometimes need to lift slightly whilst entering)
7th corner, drop to 3rd gear, whilst sharp dab on brakes, (again DONT brake to late, to early is better) turn in get back on the gas asap, 4th gear comes quick here (if you use my gearing) so be ready to change up mid corner.

Hope that helps ;)

Thanks for that, you seem to have just described what I do anyway, like you say I guess it's just the way you are driving. I have had weeks like that too, you just seem to have an affinity with certain cars.

Nikaz has been quiet this week, wonder how he's doing?

Finally managed to break into the 52's!

That was just amazing to watch, excellent control.

I just started playing this game, how do I select time trial and that track, and do I need to have all assists off and a pro handling car? I've tried that tonight, bloody hard, car's all over the shop.

Welcome Merlin5

To get the time trial started just click Quick race > Time attack then select the track & car. If you are on PC you need to be running FRAPS so you can take a screeny of your time at the end. In case you are struggling to afford the cars, Wedge was kind enough to upload a saved profile which contains plenty of cash, Nikaz linked it in the OP, together with instructions to get it into your game.

There's no rule that you have to turn all assists off, but they will only slow you down anyway. Maybe keep them on for a bit while you learn the track & car if you are struggling. Feel free to shout up if you need any more help, we are always pleased to assist, it's good to see new blood coming in :)

Improvement - Thanks to Wedge & Nikas for help:

Thanks danswan for the warm welcome :) I am on pc and yep, I got fraps at the ready. I think it's going to be some time before I'm proficient enough to handle any car well and compete in this thread but it's very addictive!

Just three questions for now if I may. Without getting into all the complexities of car modding, is it possible for me to be competitive enough and achieve these sort of sub 1 minute times with the basic unmodded $23k ford focus ST I bought? *Does it matter which track I choose, in other words, are some easier to get sub 1 minute than others? Finally, if I use wedge's profile, does that contain all his driver settings, assists, etc so I don't have to worry about setting up deadzones and stuff, I can just use his?

* oh I see, the tracks are chosen each week.

I wouldn't worry too much about being competitive, that will come with time. Half the fun is just trying to beat your own time. Tuning the cars is sometimes good for a second or two, but there's always help on hand if you need it. You need to bear in mind that each week we select one car and one track - this week we are using the VW Scirocco, at the track Glendale West, so your Focus is no good - don't worry, Wedge's profile will allow you to buy any car.

The tracks are all different, some long, some short - this weeks is quite a short one, but some are 2-3 miiles and a good lap time could be much higher than 1min.

The deadzones etc depend what controller you are using - for example most people on here use the Xbox 360 pad, but I use different settings for my G25 wheel. I would imagine Wedge has all assists turned off in his profile (barring maybe ABS) but it's easy enough to change - I think you go to Options > Driving to set up controls and assists.

My advice would be, just buy the car we are using, (you will need to 'Works Convert' it, this just means buying all available upgrades then choosing the 'works convert' option) select the Glendale West track and just get driving. The points Moto GP points system we are using means that at the minute you are guaranteed at least one point, as we currently have 14 drivers and the top 15 get points.

Well after 4 hours going round and round I can't get any better than this:

Where you lot are finding some more time from is beyond me :)
