That's the main thing Merlin, even small improvements are going in the right direction, indicating you're driving, knowledge of the track is getting better.
Very true indeed.
What do you make of this nikaz. The game doesn't save values where the slider is pushed fully to the right. It takes them down one notch to the left. Weird, this only happens to the fully right settings. These are the ones fully to the right:
Springs and Dampers
Front & Rear Damper Slow Bump 6,300 (reverts to 6000)
Front & Rear Damper Fast Bump 3,700 (reverts to 3500)
Front & Rear Damper Slow Rebound 10,800 & 12,800 (reverts to 10,500 & 12,500)
Front & Rear Damper Fast Rebound 7,800 & 8,800 (reverts to 7,500 & 8,500)
Differential
Limited Slip Acceleration Lock reverts from 100 to 95
Limited Slip Preload reverts from 110 to 100
Gearing
1st Gear Ratio reverts from 2.83 to 2.88
2nd Gear Ratio from 1.92 to 1.96
Aerodynamics
Front & Rear Downforce revert from 18 to 17.
I'm fully patched with 1.02.

Right click the 'Shift.exe' select properties and see what file version is stated. It should be 1.02. Anything else (1.00 or 1.01) means the patch wasn't fully installed correctly.

Catalyst 10.1 includes multiple fixes and the following performance improvements:
- Left 4 Dead 2 - Overall performance improves as much as 3% on ATI Radeon HD 5700 series products and ATI Radeon HD 5800 series products
- Crysis - Performance improves as much as 3% on ATI Radeon HD 5700 series products and as much as 4% on ATI Radeon HD 5800 series products

Cheers nikaz, all tuning settings saving position now. Yeah, I reinstalled the patch and now all working fine, says version 1.02.

Recently got Windows 7 and have not had the pateince to go through the game again to get enough money or cars to carry on with this championship.
Lazy I know!
But can I get my save game from my XP (32bit) and transfer it to my Win 7 (64bit) HDD?
Also with the 'Persona' ingame, will it keep my cars and credits if I log onto a different machine?
Thanks in advance guys and hope to be racing again!

Simply put, the nomination rule (see below) allows all participants the opportunity to submit a nomination. It was felt during season 1 that the winner submitting the nomination for the following week resulted in a select few users repeatedly making nominations. e.g I think I made 6 or 7 in 10 weekly events. We wanted to change that to mix things up.
In your case, you're the highest ranking driver in Week 8 who hasn't made a nomination.
Nomination Rule (from first page)
The highest ranking driver on the Weekly Event Leaderboard WITHOUT a nomination gets to choose the next Weekly Event Car/Track Combo. If for whatever reason the highest applicable driver cannot make a nomination in time, then the second highest ranking drivers' nomination will take effect & so on.

Or you can use your XP save.
In Windows 7 the save file is located here;
"C:\Users\yourname\Documents\NFS SHIFT" folder. Should be in a similar place on XP I'd of thought. The folder size is ~2 meg
Regarding the Persona. I had no problems at all. Same credits, cars, stars etc.

Is it the track knowledge improving your time or more getting to grips with the car?
Thanks Nikaz. Definitely a bit of everything but the biggest improvement has come from accelerating sooner out of turns. Also:
Holding the race line better, giving me more confidence to be more aggressive.
Timing when and where I begin my turn
Braking harder (I was too light footed before)
Aligning the car closer to the right or left before a turn to save me going too wide and coming off the track.
Oh, and watching your video over and over to see how you do it.
