Need for Speed Time Trial Championship ** Season 2 ** (Multiplatform)

i cant help but think this is user error or a bad system(overclock, ram issues or drivers etc...) THIS GAME RUNS FLAWLESSLY FOR ME AND DOES NOT LEAVE ANY "UNFINNISHED FEEL OR CHOPPY FRAME RATES" i play a lot of pc games and this IS NOT A BAD CONSOLE PORT. i'm sorry if you feel this way but your wrong.

+ 1, runs flawlessly for me as well, no slowdowns what so ever.

Finally in the 1.34s :D I'm starting to get the hang of this combo. I might be lucky to get into 1.33s before the week is over but who knows:

thedoc46, my game is running perfectly fine. Not a bad port at all. Smooth playability, high frame rates, everything on high settings. Latest patch on and all is good for me.

8 x AA and vsync enabled (vsync does seem to smooth things out more I must admit), smoother than it's ever been for me. Flawless, with permanent 60fps according to fraps.

Knocked another second off.

Perhaps I'm being too much of a perfectionist? I have it running on two different type of Win 7 64-bit machines.. As i said, in-game is flawless, its just the replay's and in the garage.. We all have different standards i guess, and this to some may be very small, but to me it leaves an unfinished feel.

After testing this on two different decent spec'd machines, that just happen to be of a clean build with the latest drivers and zero crap installed both seem to be doing exactly the same. Very slight judders on replay and within the garage it pans the cars at 30fps max. to me that's a little unfinished.

Something's not right there. Do you mean fraps is giving you 30 in the top left corner? If so, I can't see it being the game at fault, because I get between 50 and 60 when in 'My Cars' and the cars rotate, depending how much AA and AF I have enabled. And your system appears to be slightly higher spec than mine.

Could well be your Graphic card, which is struggling at 1920x1280 resolution.
ATI 5770 is very good card but its not top of the range card by any stretch of imagination.

If the game runs flawlessly in-game while driving through the tracks, but kicks it down a gear in a less demanding garage or replay, then the card is not struggling.

The only other thing it could be is the game doesn't like Windows 7 64-bit as much as whatever O/S you guys are running. (though i highly doubt it) and if i could be bothered, i could install it on my XP partition. (which i can't be bothered) I've tested on both a 4850 & a 5770 clean, latest drivers, no problem whatsoever pc's and the quality is equal in both. As far as i'm concerned, it's just the game engine. AND I'll be the first to admit that i am over picky. Just the way it is.

I've come to the conclusion that some people are just not as picky. Some may look at the replays and just not see it. I do, was initially dissapointed, but don't worry i'm getting over it. It's the in-game gfx that's more important.

well your wrong! i am very picky about my games and fps one of the reaons i upgraded my pc was my old system e8400@4ghz 8800gtx etc could not run this game the way i wanted it to run!... i'm a perfectionist and to be perfectlly honest apart from 1 or two car bugs this game is well finnished and has no fps problems oh and i'm running windows 7 64bit ultimate.

i might be abit adamant on this because i strongly believe this is 1 of the better car/racing games for the pc it borderlines a sim in my eyes with all the girly electrics turned off!

Want to point out once again, in game is flawless for me.. However you do seem adament, so perhaps the extra oomph of your 5850 is just enough to make the replays and garage run as smooth as it does in-game. Because for me, in those sections it's falling just short of perfect.

This is kicking my butt hard,

but my lap time is now not too shabby for less than 2 weeks playing this game I suppose, hehe

Very nice inam22!

I got a slight improvement too.

edit: I've changed the 1:34.550 screenshot to this one, slight improvement again. Just can't get into the 1.33's, it's frustrating, but I'm close, lol.

Hi doc,
Can you check something for me please.
Right click the 'Shift.exe' select Properties.
Check the file version is 1.02
Sometimes the update doesn't fully install first time. If it states anything other than 1.02 you'll have to re-install the update.
If you've Vsync on, the 'My Cars' section may be limited to 30fps, probably in line with the console versions. I get +100fps in the My Cars section with vsync off.
I'm running a 4870x2, Cat 10.1 in Win7 64bit btw

Pre patch there was no mouse support in the menus, suggesting to me the menus are identical to the console versions & I did experience lag when switching cars in the menu's, post patch no problems at all, bringing me back to my suggestion of checking the file version of the exe.

Three hours later and I can only shave off a couple of hundreths:

A 1:32xx isn't looking likely. I'm now mainly loosing time on the left hander up towards the corkscrew, I either turn too early and then bounce over the track end up on the gravel on the far right side, or turn too late and just slip off the track - ending up in the same patch of gravel :(

Very constructive advice, so thank you. Just checked and indeed i am on 1.02. I did also try without vsync previously, but no better.

TBH its no longer bothering me in any way. Just happy in-game runs perfect. You have a much better setup than me and that obviously compensates.

Maybe I'll crossfire my 5770 and see if that fixes it. :D
