Hi everyone, basically what im looking for is a package like the aol platinum, unliited everything for around the same money, can anyone recommend any ISP that are good or better than aol, thanks.

You're not goign to get Unlimited these days, unless you go for a fixed 2meg line. I'd recommend UKFSN though so far based on my service from them. £28 a month for office max 45, adsl max speeds dependant on your location, no huge speed drops during the day, and 45GB per month peak bandwidth, 330GB offpeak, not to mention up to 85KB/sec upload rate and 20:1 contention :)

You can download up to 45GB a month during the peak periods *8am-10pm weekdays* and 330GB offpeak *10pm-8am weekdays, all day weekends* during a month. Aside from those bandwidth limitations, there no capping, no blocking ports, no nothing, and its a month contract only, so you can change to another ISP if you dont like it after a month.

Aside from the slower services, no company offers true unlimited usage anymore, only usage with FUPs or port blocking etc, or a cap of some kind. However as you can see, the UKFSN cap, is hardly ungenerous.

Arent Virgin picking up a fairly poor rep, even on this forum?

Nods. I left them for Aquiss 30/300GB peak/offpeak. They are essentially the same as UKFSN.

Virgin are find in the day and early hours. after 6 til 10 expect pings in the 200's and slow speeds. :(

Yeah you'll be hard pushed to find Unlimited these days, UKFSN do a 2mb totally unlimted ADSL service, but thats bound to change, everyone is going FUP and capping theres no getting away from it, i only went to AOL in June for the Unlimited, now they are adding an FUP, and on about traffic management (shaping/throttling), so im off, im just going to jump ontp UKSFN's MAX 60 service where you get 60gb peak a month, and 330gb off peak, and as said above the peak hrs are 8am till 10pm, and the off peak is 10pm till 8am, and all weekends, it will do me as i don't mind caps, its the shaping/throttling i dont want, if im downloading and keeping to an FUP hrs so dowloading off peak, i expect to get my full speeds, not some 20k shaped/throttled crap, so UKSFN here we come. :D

Id just look for a capped service now that doesn't do shaping/throttling, the days of finding unlimited, no FPUS etc... are long gone sadly. :(

actually ukfsn seen to be like £2-£3 cheaper than Aquiss but Aquiss does have faster upload speeds as i do quite a lot of upload of pictures to my website. so im really unsure. And the package that seems the best to suit me would be this:

Office Max 90
90GB
330GB
£39.99 (inc VAT)

Upto 8Mbps* Download Speed
Upto 832k* Upload Speed
20:1 Contention
1 Month Contract
1 Static IP
Wired, Wireless and Gaming Console Compatible
0845 Backup Dial Service

Or

Office Max 45
45GB
300GB
£32.99 (inc VAT)

What would this be like for gaming too as i play css and cod quite abit like.

UKFSN do an Office service too, given they're both reselling Enta's products, not that the upload speed makes any (real) difference to your gaming.

So I see, but ill not be using the uploading for gaming, its for uploading of the pictures to my site, i upload aproximatly 250 pictures every weekend so time can be a little problem. Im really interested in this, I think I may actually go with them. :)

UKFSN offers the same packages but is cheaper than Aquiss (both companies are Entanet resellers). The difference in price is the reason i chose UKFSN when looking for a new ISP, and Im more than happy.

Ah ok then, i think i will go with UKFSN but can i get out of my contract with aol as i havent received one of these emails yet about terms changing. i will be in contract for another 8 months :(

Yeah you can get out of your contract, just tell em you don't agree to the new T&C's so would like your MAC, e-mail doesn't have to be mentioned at all as they will assume you have had it, as everybody on AOL is getting the e-mail. :)
