Im going for my fitness test for the navy tomorrow and need some closure that I have done everything right on the treadmill tonight.

7.5 miles an hour is a fast walk speed isnt it? (Im 6" tall)

7.5 miles an hour will let you do it in a 1.5 mile run in 12 mins? If not, can someone work out how fast I would have to go to do it in 12 mins?

It just seemed too easy, did a 1.5 mile run in 10:30, which is very good for me, was nackered after it though...

Really, really bricking it. Applied December 2007 , failed 1st fitness test, couldnt have 2nd one down to health problems, and here we are, about to have my 2nd fitness test. Its been on my mind for ages, been worrying so long - have no confidence with this kind of stuff (fitness) !

Thanks, and wish me luck for tomorrow!! :D

You're pretty short at just 6".

Yeah, just imagine how fast his little legs have to go to do the mile and a half hack. :D

Bengaboy - All the best for tomorrow. Let us know how it all goes.

/edit:

Just seen you live in West Sussex Justin. Whereabouts are you located within this fine county?

ARRRRRRGHHHHH!!!!

I was doing it in kilometers! (1.5km in 10:30) Oh no, going into major panic mode now... :(

Bricking it big time - oh , I wish I could swear on this forum!

Crikey, that sucks. Still - best wishes all the same. You have another 90 seconds to run a further 900-ish meters. You said you found the 1.5k quite easy, maybe just turn up the wick a little bit tomorrow.*

*May be a bad idea because i don't know even the first thing about running.

If competitive running and Douglas Adams have taught me one thing, it's don't panic! Adrenaline is a very bad thing if you're trying to pace yourself. You might think 1.5 miles and 1.5Km are really different, but they're still not too far.

Relax and you'll be fine. Just try to zone out and ignore any aches/pains/cramps you get.

Good luck!

1.5 miles is 2.4km, its loads different

I didn't say they weren't different, I said they still weren't too far. Sure, it's an extra 0.9km but when the distances are relatively short a 0.9km increase isn't so bad. It's not like the OP has found he has to run another 10km on top of what he was doing.

Best of luck, my mate is doing his Navy fitness test tomorrow at Newcastle. He has been training on the tread mill for a couple of months now. I'm sure it will be fine when the adrenaline of the actual test kicks in.

I was about to say lol, 7.5km/h is fast walking speed not 7.5mph. Good luck anyway, do update us with results.
