Years ago protein shakes used to be made up of all kinds of rubbish and generally were not of a great quality. Today they're excellent and they will do you no harm at all when taken in conjuction with a clean, balanced diet. Concentrate on improving your diet and then look into supplementation if you feel you're lacking.

Too much of anything is bad at that age - impact cardio, extensive/incorrect weights sessions... you can do some real damage.

Why is it?That chance is much larger with younger people who have not finished growing.
So actually, you don't know.but I'd say developing bodies are much more susceptible to long term damage through the misuse of machinery.
