Neighbour asked to scrounge our wifi

Ask her to contribute towards the cost of it if she wants to use it.

Other than that no.

Pretty much this, wouldnt let anyone leech off my connection for free...if they want to use it then they can pay towards the cost of the internet.

Thankfully i dont live in a place where i have scrounging chavs:p

She's probably the kind of person who will ask for more the more you give.

It'll start with this and before long she'll be off with your car and the family silver.

If she streams any movies or other copyrighted content you would be blamed as it's your connection. Under no circumstances should you let her use your wifi

That's a two way street, if you constantly download stuff you shouldn't, then you can set yourself up with a scapegoat ;)

If it was an old lady who just used e-mail or something, wasn't well off and it would seem ridiculous to pay 5-15 a month just for 5p's worth of e-mail checking I actually wouldn't mind. But random person who can afford it but won't get their own can stuff off. If they want to contribute towards the bill AND I had a router that allows you to limit the speed to specific users(I did love the hell out of my Draytek years ago) then maybe.

Was thinking of setting up a guest network the other day but thought what's the point? If anyone comes over they need only ask for the password (which I know off the top of my head) for the normal network and if I were to make the guest network open access - could neighbours not join?

No, you're paying for it, ask her to give a £10 per month and maybe set her up with a restricted account?

Doesn't matter it would still be his connection therefore it would still be him that any action would be taken against.

Definite no from me as well, cheeky scrounger.

Absolutely no way. Whilst what she does may be innocent, her system could be compromised, which in turn could compromise your entire network (i.e. your NAS).

You do realise the nasty things that occur on the internet, right?
