Neighbour from a few doors up parks their car outside my house

It's not blocking my driveway or anything (I have a car on there). It's been there for about 2 months now, almost directly outside my home. It's an unsightly, dirty old black Ford Focus. Not sure why he does it. Afaik it's been used once during that time (it disappeared for half a day). It is a bit of a pain as when I have visitors they can't park outside mine anymore. I live in a bungalow. I've checked it's legal, it is. Not much I can do really. I don't know the neighbour to speak to, they're quite new to the street. Have I got any reason to be miffed? Probably not but I am a bit tbh.

Is there an obvious reason he doesn’t park it on his own drive or outside his own house? Used the reg to check it’s taxed and mot’d?

Not a lot you can do like you say, if it's taxed and insured the owner is well within their rights to park on a public road.

You could ask them to not, but they'll probably tell you to do one.

Park there when you can, and maybe they'll get the hint. Else move on with your life and don't let it ruin your weekend. :)

I've checked online, the car is all legal.

Yes I've decided to do that, when he next moves it again, which is hardly ever, I'll park and I'll leave my car where his is now.
Park outside their house, then guests can use your drive.
Not a bad idea, I like it. My car is pretty popular with thieves though (Golf R) so I'm a bit nervous about parking it elsewhere overnight, could try it in the day though.

Ask him to move it?
I've never spoken to him, I only found out it was his earlier today because I seen him go to it to get something out of it. Yes I could ask him, don't want to create bad feeling. Definitely an option though, now I know who it belongs to.

Do you have CCTV? Some people will park their car knowing it is covered by CCTV cameras.
There is CCTV at my property, but I don't think it covers where his car is now, it's on the driveway rather than the road. But I leave indoor lights on all night, maybe he's seen that.

Moving to motors on the back of a low loader.

Nothing you can do about them parking outside your house if the car taxed and insured, you don't own any space on the road, even if you were to have a disabled bay marked up that would still be usable by anyone with a disabled badge IIRC.

It's really annoying at time, we basically never have a space free outside our house because of the number of cars neighbours have/them not using their garages, but also more annoyingly the people from neighbouring streets and for a while we had a bunch of company vehicles owned by one of the people at the far end of the street (IIRC he had something like two of the single car transporters/low loaders, and a a van as well as his own cars).

As said, not a lot you can do beyond asking them not to. When we lived on a road one guy ran a mini-bus business and basically took over every spare space in the entire street making it awkward to even get in your own driveway, the council still couldn't/wouldn't do anything.

I'm not seeing any reason for a member of the public to tell another member of the public to not park on a legally allowed bit of road.

I hate it as much as anyone when someone parks in the street in front of my door.

Forces me to drive another 20m to my reserved parking bay

Is there any suitable parking outside his house?

From a strict legal point of view you don't own any of the street outside your house and he has as much right to park there as anyone, including you. So, legally you can't make him do anything about it.

From a common courtesy point of view, it's not a great thing for the neighbour to be doing. Many people get a bit territorial of the road space outside their home, and with more cars about, street parking is always an issue. If you are going to do anything about it, it just means talking to them to see if you can understand his reasons better and can come to a neighbourly understanding.

Who cares lol life is too short.

Do you have a dog? Or do any of your friends? Put some dog poo through his letter box.

Yes he has parking outside of his home, he already parks a saab convertible outside his bungalow I seen today, he has no driveway. He just about has enough space for 2 cars on the road outside his home tbh. Think I'll leave a very polite note. The thing is, the neighbour to the left of me is never home, she's staying with family miles away for health reasons, and would probably welcome a car outside hers so any opportunist thieves don't think it's unoccupied.
