Neighbours and Parking Problems

Yeah this is a fairly frequent problem on OcUK but I thought I'd ask for some advice. Our semi-detached property has one driveway that fits three cars but is only one car wide.

I always leave the house before my GF and sometimes get back before her. Sometimes I park on the driveway and sometimes she parks on the driveway and the other parks on the road.

The road is about as wide as a standard single carriageway (2 and a bit cars wide) and has semi-detached properties on both sides.

Today our neighbour banged on the door (we have a doorbell) when the GF was home alone and parked on the road due to the council leaving the recycling box in the drive way entrance (I was parked at the airport as I was flying out of the city) and started off by saying "I'm not being funny but..." and saying he had difficulties front parking onto his drive if we parked in front of our house and if continued to park in front of our house he'd call the police.

Could the police actually do anything here?!

ring them and ask?

i'd have thought their would be something in the law that states, you must not block other peoples drive ways

Well first of all, for talking to your missus in that tone you should shoot him, or at least take a dump on his car windscreen.

"I'd like to report my neighbours parking infront of their own house please"

/dead ringtone

Tell him to **** off and if he comes to the door again you'll snap his jaw off.

if i were you i'd move the car, but then stick it back where it was the next day..

my neighbor was also complaining of the same thing, they couldnt get their massive high top long wheel base van on their drive and asked me to move my car, we complained to council and they had to park their van off the street.. probably not breaking any law but if a neighbor finds yo not using your drive they're obviously going to get a bit annoyed

Police can't do anything unless you are physically blocking his driveway. Making it slightly less easy to turn into doesn't count. Parking a Transit on the pavement in front of the dropped kerb bit does.

Only rational response is to poo in his letter box, set fire to his car and kidnap all his pets.....

In reality, he'll get a sharp telling off from the police for running them about this and is a criminal waste of oxygen if he doesn't know otherwise. Keep parking in front of your house, preferably with cars that look less and less likely to move, slash your own tyres one night. Then wait for the veins in his head to explode and WW2 look like tea in the park.

I always thought the police wouldn't do anything unless you'd parked in front of someone else's driveway.

I've attached a crude Microsoft Paint drawing for everyone's amusement.

This particular neighbour has a blue Subaru with the usual massive 100dB exhaust. If he were a proper man he'd easily reverse park onto his driveway like I do everyday at work and at home without any issue.

I shall defecate into his letterbox on Monday. Thanks for your assistance!

Assuming he comes home from work from the right of your picture, then I'd imagine he's annoyed because he can't swing onto his driveway in one go. I'd be very surprised if the police would do anything, as you're in no way blocking his driveway.
