Net curtains...Why?

I haven't really looked at the price just yet. They will be for our three bedrooms where the windows arn't particularly large so I'm hoping the cost isn't too extortionate.

We will have proper curtains over to block out all the light completely at night anyway.

Did you see them in person? How do they work exactly? The way I'm imagining it is like two fine nets with plastic (?) strips stuck on. You can then either line up the strips so you can see through half of it, or stagger the strips so that you can't see through at all?

Yeah I saw them in the shop, it's almost like when you fold them, the 'bars' fold on top of each other, hard to explain but if you image a striped blind, black and white, with the white being what you can see through/let light through, when you turn the cord, the black moves in front of the white kinda thing and it turns all black.

Rubbish explanation I know, but hopefully gets the idea across :D

I have them on my windows apart from the huge patio doors where I have vertical blinds up. My nets are plain with no pattern whatsoever on and stops folk looking in through the day. Also really cheap made to order off various eBay sellers.

If you are going to put net curtains up, make sure you have plenty of gather in them and that they are hemmed too. Also use sturdy net curtain rods to hang them up, those new fangled tension rods great. Don't use net curtain wire wise you'll just look like you're stuck in the 70s. :)
