Netgear D7000 VDSL modem/router

I've noticed from a screenshot of the test firmware I was sent that it showed a DSl settings page that allowed users to enable/disable bitswap, SRA, Trellis and sesdrop. All these functions are gone from the official release.

I don't think that I saved a copy of the one I was sent either as it was downloaded via a dropbox link which has now been removed.

I have found on my hard drives are

V1.0.0.20_1.0.1_TEST_0817
V1.0.0.18_TEST_0811

If you could upload a copy of yours, I would be happy to test all out over the next few days and report back. I did test sync speeds with my HG612 and they were near identical.

That would be great if you could and then I can get it tested for a few days compared to the official one.

No idea, This is a thread about the Netgear D7000. Not sure if you require additional settings or not.
 
I've just had a try of the firmware you supplied pdes. It makes no difference at all on my line. The sync speeds are pretty much bang on the same as the official release.

I asked NetGear to compare the two but got nowhere. I can't believe that a coder can't look at the codes and see the difference.

Strange how you get such a massive difference. Did you just contact Netgear directly or one of their engineering members in Taiwan?

I've had to take another speed hit due to cross talk with rebooting the modem. I noticed it was sitting around 5.7db but now back up at 6.2db with less sync. The joys!
 
Thought about trying one of the new billion devices? They worked well on long ADSL lines. Not sure how they cope with VDSL.

It's strange how that firmware only seems to work better on your line. It made absolutely no difference on my line.

Is there a way to fully flush all settings from the device and not just holding the reset button 10 seconds? Could there be some sort of issue with settings being retained somewhere in the memory causing a conflict with the newer firmwares but working correctly when you reflash the older firmware?

Try the latest firmware. A member on Kitz just said 1.0.1.44 has now been released.
 
That was going to be my next suggestion. Every time I finish installing the latest firmware I always reset to factory by holding the reset button on the rear for 10 seconds then setup from fresh.
 
Yeah it's a nuisance but if it works it will be worth it. They always advice doing a factory reset. Keep us updated and if that doesn't work I can email the Netgear firmware guys and give them a heads up.
 
That is a bit strange. They were normally quite good at getting back in touch. Saying that, It was over a year ago that I last made contact with them, They may not be at the company anymore.

Could it be a service issue BT's end? Have you tried asking on the Kitz forum thread for the D7000? There were some guys on there who had the same issue that may be able to help. Depends how much more time you want to throw into it.
