nether....A zombie/mutant type mmo sort of thing!!

Had a few freezes tonight, could be my end but I think others are getting it to going by the steam forums.

Happens to me too I get random lockups and the whole game lacks smoothness. Maybe its my CPU but a friend with an I7 has the same. If they can sort the combat out this can be potentially awesome

I did this:

AmbientOcclusion=False

in:

C:\Users\user\Documents\my games\Nether\NetherGame\Config\NetherSystemSettings.ini
\
Mine is now as smooth as a babies backside, although unsure if that is needed now as they added it to the in game settings. Double check though I noticed it can turn it back on. So I set it in that config file and made it read only.

Nether has had a update:

• Fixed potential crashes and lockups on the client related to physics code
• Greatly improved framerate on the client (Some users should see performance increase)
• Fixed a problem where servers would eventually stop responding to connections
• Fixed an issue that would eventually degrade performance on the servers
• Added more controls for admins to easily ban and kick cheaters from within the game
• Added bullet whiz-by sounds near the player
• Added bullet impact sounds near the player
• Marketplaces will now show up as icons on the map
• Fixed some pickups that previously couldn't be picked up
• Added some fixes to try to address looping download issue in launcher
• Added some fixes to try to prevent admin-related problems when installing
• If installer fails, it won't try to redownload it if it doesn't need to
• If the game is now already running when the installer starts, it will make sure to kill it first
• Fixed some launcher issues arising from installing two launchers in two different directories
• Fixed voice chat to be more reliable
• Added setting to mute all voice chat in the settings menu
• Fixed several collision issues
• Fixed an exploit where market could be made accessible anywhere in the map
• Removed marketplace access from character select
• Restored random spawning until we can balance saved locations
• Players can now enter console commands in the chat box by prefacing them with "/"
• Various art fixes and texturing fixes

Yeah seems to have fixed the crashing, but you do need to redownload again. If you get a launcher error after goto your nether folder in steam, then launcher folder and run the .exe from there.

Good to see theyre handling cheats, that was a plague for WarZ. Still wouldnt trust them with more than a tenner, but theyre going in the right direction.

They said in the last update that in future patches could be downloaded without having to download the whole game client again. Guess this one slipped through zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Has anyone tried this new patch? I'm hoping it makes it feel smoother

This patch is a step in the right direction, you can now tell if people are shooting at you, my fps have improved, im still finding items I cant pick up though and random spawns are back :(.

Have tried it and it feels on the whole a LOT smoother. Has anyone actually seen one of these reapers yet? I keep getting messages that they are leading an assault but have yet to actually see one of the buggers

Anyone got a trial key for this? Tempted to throw caution to the wind, ignore the War-Z connection and maybe invest. Would like to have a quick play first though!

They were given out yesterday, should be on your account page. It was mentioned in the patch notes as well.

2 of mine have gone within my clan, but if no one wants the 3rd I will post it here.

Oh thanks but mine weren't there when I checked. Quick email to support though and they got it sorted. If nothing else Nether support is way beyond what passed for support at Hammerfail Interactive :D
