I live in a 100 year old terraced house and have never been in the attic. I'm scared to get up and into it.

Do I need to man up?

Yes. A lot.

I've had to crawl into very dark and tight places in our loft to fit modern insulation and whilst it isn't fun (it is very dirty and stuffy) it isn't exactly difficult or scary.

Because of the design of our house the eves are low and so you can't really stand up adding to the annoyance. I kind of like going up there as it exposes the original structure of the house, kind of like looking back to the 19th Century.
