Neverwinter Nights 2 Official Thread

What are you on about? Just because it has open landscapes and a fantasy setting aswell? NWN2 is zoned, for one. Oblivion just moved the goalposts in terms of what was possible graphically, they did nothing new.

I think they're spot on myself. Now Oblivions are poor....

Now maybe its just me, but why is it that the first thing anyone thinks about in terms of games is graphics? "zOMG, if I zoom right in on his eyelash its only a single poly, so lame" - cue two million rolly eyed smileys.

And how people can even compare this to Oblivion is beyond me. Yes, Oblvions game world is awesome - it is without a doubt the best gaming world I've ever come across. However the games mechanics are chronic! Auto-levelling baddies? Completing the game on level1? Item drops that auto-adjust to your level? Endlessly repeating dungeons? Oh look, I go back to the start of the game and the bandits have the same uber-armour as me? There's no feeling of power, missions are totally unrewarding...console-afied to appeal to the kiddies to the nth degree.

Yes yes, matter of opinion - but its just ****s me right off the people seem to be under the impression that Oblivion, because it has the best graphics, its immediately the better game.

And no, NWN2 isn't perfect - I'm not making that claim. Its got a few rough edges, but its still early, and the developers response to the community has been excellent, so I'm sure its only going to get better.

For starters, I think Oblivion sucks as far as rpgs go ( out of the box) :).... so dunno where you got the idea I'm pimping it.

Of course NWN is zoned, I know that. You missed my point, which is the NWN2 devs seem to have gone crazy trying to create a super immersive graphics-fest to the detriment of everything else. If you read their forums they have been pimping their graphics to death for ages now. I just think its ironic that they should even bother. NWN has never been about graphics, but more about gameplay. Hence, them failing dismally at it (the graphics) in terms of bad programming etc, is kind of dissapointing to say the least....they should have spent the last few years making a solid sequel to NWN. And learned from their mistakes...evidently they haven't

It seems people will defend shoddy programming no matter what though. No wonder games houses keep churning it out. As a long time gamer (20+ yrs of gaming) you get kinda sick of being taken for a fool all the time.

Im in act 3 and i think im not far from completing the game... but im stuck
How do i reforge the sword? , ive been to the valley / destroyed the heart

<insert swear word here> wth dude, such a short sentence, it's impossible not to read the spoiler you <insert personal attack>

If you are going to reply with the answer then yes sure , i skipped parts of the quest out as not to spoil :D

I'd class this as a spoiler. Mild, but certainly gives me information I'd rather had learned in game.

In that case, it's a third person role-playing game with an emphasis on problem solving, group combat & character development.
It also contains a world development kit so that players can create their own worlds for themselves & others to adventure in.

Save you looking? ;)

thanks for the help :o . the NWN sites doesnt even tell you.

a quick 2 line explanation wouldnt hurt you/anyone would it?

I guess it wouldn't, but I'm all for the stance that the internet is aglorious source of information, and people should be more adept at finding this information themselves.

But yes, nothing like an FPS, tis a thinking/planning/strategic game with a depth of character interaction and a great storyline :D

is this game like a FPS? what exactly is it about?

Is it not that difficult to see through the thread that its not an fps... even googling would come up with an easy answer :o

After waiting 4 years for this game. I was impressed they manged to keep true the NWN1 and improve on it and blind nice parts of bg into it.

The true beatuy of nwn1 was the online player servers and i for one can't wait to see what people come up with
