Neverwinter Nights 2 Official Thread

Question for you.

My characters became diseased when in the graveyard, I have cured the disease but my characters remain with dex and con moodifiers, both have been reduced to zero.

I have tried cures, resting and a few other potions but nothing seems to recover these points. The NPCs have managed to get the points back by "dying" and recovering, at which point they are totally back to normal. Meanwhile my drow fighter is fighting on some maps later with 0 dex and con :(

Anyone got an idea? Otherwise I will have to arrange a fight I die in but the NPcs win

Strange, when I became diseased my cleric casted cure disease which worked. Have you tried any of the restoration spells or potions as that might sort out your dex and con?

Did the same with my level 11 Warlock, started again as a wizard - was utterly bored with the Warlock.

Same, dropped the warlock I had at lvl10ish - went for a cleric>warpriest for ease of play & see the whole plot, then there's plenty of time to roll some of the 'stranger' classes/combo's.

Loving the game :)

Started playing this game yesterday, and must say that 'currently' I am totally disappointed with it. The main reason comes down to the companions and Behaviours Menu. I have just spent the last 30 minutes reading post after post on the NW Forum totally daming this feature of the game.

I tried all night to get my companions to follow, what were basic orders in Neverwinter Nights 1, without success. The Behaviour Menu seems totally ineffective... you can either instruct your companions to use AI, which results in them shapeshifting and running into any fight available... or puppet mode, which then results in them attacking one enemy, and then standing there soaking up arrows until told otherwise.

There seems to be no middle ground. I can't get my Druid to heal my party, and the fighter is just either forever storming off, or hanging back and not getting into the fight.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but judging by the posts in the official forum, I am not alone.

I'll continue with the game... but I can already feel the need to shelve this game for a few months until some critical patches comes out.

What do you guys on here think? What am I doing wrong?

I cant remember exactly which potions I have tried, I have plenty of gold though and tried all those that seemed to apply. I dont have a cleric in the party so have been using "Heal" and potions mainly. It "feels" like something went wrong since regaining conciousness solves the issue and resets the stats if you are knocked out in a fight.... other than that I am happy with the game, I seem to have sorted all my issues and the AI has been acceptable so far. I woudl rather play solo but the character isnt ready for that yet :D

err think so, right click on any character and hold down the button for a second or two why it's not instant i don't know and issue "basic commands" there's "guard me" "follow me" "stand your ground" "attack nearest" and some others.

The Context Menu Delay is configurable - I think it's on the Gameplay tab of the options.

Exactly right, you can adjust that and the delay in info "popups" that you get mousing over things in the gameplay section of the options. I have both of mine turned down near the lowest setting, but not the very lowest as then it seemed a bit quirky.

Thanks for the tip... I'll try that tonight. While I've got your ear. HHow are you getting on with the Behaviour Menu? Again, forgive me if I'm being a little dense, but I can't seem to find much of a reference to it in the PDF manual... also, within the game, it states that if I left click on a Behaviour it will give an explaination. I've tried this and it does not seem to work... unless of course their idea of an explaination runs to a single sentence!

This might all be painfully straight-forward for you veterans, but for a noob it's a little off putting.

Honestly this game could actually stop you smoking the amount of time it passes without trying.

If your thinking of giving up, this thing is a good a time killer as anything, and very rarely stress you like most games.

This game is great fun and I am really getting into it now. I decided to make myself a new char, a Bard, he is pretty good and his songs really help to enhance my party.

So the wife has also got this game running on XP64, which fair enough isn't supported, but it's an absolute joke. The latest patch screwed the game up and she couldn't even boot it up - go to the official site and sure enough there's a monster thread about how nobody with XP64 can now play the game. They release a hotfix which downgrades the game back to the first patch, however this crashed the first time and corrupted all the 2D texture files. She's now in the process of re-installing the game

I've heard there's a solid RPG in here somewhere....I just don't know if I can be bothered to find it. We both bought copies of the game on the day of release so we could play together without being naughty and using keygens etc, etc, and what happens? We spend $100 for the pleasure of beta-testing a poorly programmed piece of software

It’s disappointing to be hearing a lot of negative comments from this and Gothic 3. I really don't know which RPG to pick up now. I did love Baldurs gate series but didn't like the original Neverwinter Nights due to the loss of many of the things BG2 had.

Anyone that’s got both this and Gothic 3 what would you recommend please? :)

Yep, NWN is much better. To be honest only played gothic for about an hour, and not touched it since. NWN2 I've not stopped playing for 4 days.

Sounds good enough for me, cheers mate. :)

Does anyone find that the feat that the Sorcerers have (maybe mages too) doesn't work? I can't remember what its called, but baisically says that spells generate no threat, but require more concentration.

Despite using it, my mage still gets whacked when attacking someone. Using a fireball or firewall *always* ends in her very quick death as she gets bum-rushed by a group of angry burning monsters....

I'm enjoying the game, despite the fact the interface and camera is imho a big step back from the one we had in NWN 1, and the graphics don't seem significantly better to be honest.

I've ended up with a Fighter 8 / Weapon Master 7 (longsword specialist), and just use puppet mode on all the companions. It's the only way I could stop Qara and the other casters from over-nuking everything or using totally inappropriate spells all the time - (does a lone goblin really require a wall of fire AND a fireball?).

Still, I think the good outweighs the bad, and I do remember NWN took quite a bit of patching when it first came out so i'll give Obsidian the benefit of the doubt - they may have been pressured into a premature release by Atari but the patches look as though they'll be fairly regular.
