Neverwinter Nights 2 Official Thread

Does anyone find that the feat that the Sorcerers have (maybe mages too) doesn't work? I can't remember what its called, but baisically says that spells generate no threat, but require more concentration.

Despite using it, my mage still gets whacked when attacking someone. Using a fireball or firewall *always* ends in her very quick death as she gets bum-rushed by a group of angry burning monsters....

Combat casting doesn't mean you get no threat, it means you get a bonus to your concentration role when you're in combat. You can still fail it (especially if you haven't maxed concentration out at every level up)

Remember NWN2 is a computer simulation of a tabletop rpg system, so it does a lot of dice rolling.

To try and protect your mage/sorcerer, look at casting buffing spells before you enter combat (stoneskin, mage armour, invisibility of some kind) to reduce your chances of getting hit too

See this thread for a possible solution.

Playing as a neutral evil dark elf is quite fun and very profitable it seems :D The dwarf's pretty cool, didn't seem too happy at my charging to save people from monsters that were actualy after me mind you :p

How I hate rogues and their sneak attacks. Glad I read earlier in this thread about sticking the Dwarf in the door. I then use my Ranger's Longbow +1 with Rapid Shot to get most of them but the Moira mission is being a pain as I forgot to buy potions to buff my party (Human Ranger, Dwarf Fighter, Tiefling Rogue and Human Sorceror).

Re: Crafting - Is there an easier way to collect the essences needed? I'm level 13 and have only come across essences once or twice.

If you have craft alchemy you can make essences from creature parts obtained after killing them.

Next time you level up, I'd suggest giving the sorceror some level 1/2 buff spells, rather than relying on availability of potions. You can add and remove spells at level up :)

Some merchants also sell the parts, and in some cases the essences themselves :)

So u need Alchemy to enchant a weapon?
Havent crafted anything yet :(

No, but craft alchemy allows you to make some of the ingredients rather than having to find them.

You need the craft magical weapon/armour feat to enchant a weapon though

This game is a total joke. The camera angles are awful, the graphics are dated and the companion AI is broken. I waited so long for this game after playing oblivion, and it has let me down badly. So much so, I have decided to play Oblivion again on the maximum hardness setting. Just for kicks.

Craft weapon is a skill, not a feat.

They're the feats for creating items :)

You need to be a 5th level caster before craft magical arms and armour is available to you though I think

Each to their own I guess.

Hack n slash FPS is very different from tactical team management, I doubt anyone expecting Oblivion enjoys this.

Fine by me, I thought Oblivion was a more boring grind than WoW, lol

Just picked up my copy today, had left it as parcel force HQ for about a week lol.

Will install it tonight and give it a quick blast. I used to play NWN multiplayer for ages and I have a knack for creating uber wizard builds hehe, so Boron The Grey will once again walk toe earth MUAHAHAHAHA... HAHAHA... haha... uhhhh. Ok i'll shut up now. :D

Hack n slash fine, im not a great fan of it either, but at least oblivion looks good. This game looks, well awful. And seeing as Baldurs gate was one of my favourite games, how people can go from that and play this is beyond me. Bring back the infinity engine!!

I really don't see how anyone can say this games looks bad. Maybe I have low standards but the way I see it, a game doesn't have to be the next Oblivion or Crysis to look good. :/ The faces do have that Everquest 2 look to them but apart from that I think it looks fine and certainly not awful.
