Neverwinter Nights 2 Official Thread

My sister pre-ordered NWN2 for my birthday from a N Ireland store that takes for ever to deliver so I have just gone ahead and ordered it from a store that should deliver it tomorrow. I will have to sell the other copy when it arrives next week. Now that is what I call dedication to a game.

I suppose I am desperate to get hold of a good RPG as I had to stop playing Gothic 3 due to it being one of the buggiest games to be released in years - I have just managed to sell it on the internet so no great loss.

I have spent a fair bit of time on the Bioware forum and gamer feedback has been extremely positive. You still get the usual 9800 pro users complaining about performance.

If anybody calls me this weekend to go out, forget it. I will be lying my way out of all social commitments.

Ordered Lawful Good earlier today... Chaotic evil was £10 more wtf? Looking forward to donning my cloak and gripping my thick wand firmly all over again... :D

Boron The Grey will be reborn... (my uber multiplayer mage from NWN back in the days when I had no job...). ;)

Just want to know one thing about this game. Can you direct you character around with the arrow or WSAD keys as in KOTOR. The clink to move interface of the original drove me nuts so I shelved it and played KOTOR instead.

Both I believe.

I got to have a nice look at my pre ordered Chaotic Evil LE about two hours ago, that box is huge Oo Shame I won't be able to run it on my current spec but that'll change soon enough ;)

Went and snatched the only Limited Edition here in my area in the US and look forward to getting home to install it. It seems Atari tried to put some "lawful good" and some "chaotic evil" into the North American version including the two rings, one for each alignment, with all the other LE goodies and a clear window when you open the box flap so you can see them inside. Haven't had a chance to take a closer look, but my day is done here in 15 minutes, so it won't be long. :)

In anticipation of this fine game, what score (out of a 10, or IGN rating) would you put the 1st NWN's at?

1st impression (as if you'd be rating it like IGN)

And right now, after 5 year game play?

1st impression: 9.0

Right now: 9.3

Not much difference, but thats a huge amount of time for this game to still do it for me.

What's everyone wanting from this one?

I'd be happy with an 8.5, growing to a 9.0.

Hows this performing for everyone?

I have an Overclocked 6600 running at 3.6Gigs, 2 Gig of ram and SLI 7900 GTO's and its not exactly smooth at 1920x1200 with everthing on apart from AA.

Not wishing to alarm people but this is more demanding than Oblivion.

Apart from that,lol its amazing

Geeeez... My rig will buckle if thats the case. Have you tried toning the shadows down, that is meant to make a big difference.

For a start I don't think NWN2 came with a profile for SLI. Also, I've seen in running smooth-as ona normal PC so I wouldn't panic yet.

Just runs in AFR like 99% of all the other games.

Panic, lol. You will do ;)

Just talked to a friend on MSN with an X1900XT 512. He is having the same problem. Not smooth. Very Jerky panning with the mouse.

3800+, 1gb ram, 1800XT 256mb. Runs to my satisfaction at 1280*1024, but with shadows on low. Mouse moving the camera could be faster though.

I'm surprised the game is so demanding... the screenshots don't really look all that amazing... I mean the best of which are:

http://www.atari.com/nwn2/US/gallery_screenshots.php#

In fact some of the shots I've seen on other sites have suggested the game would run well on a slightly older PC.

Maybe I'm not seeing it in motion, but... I think I will wait for some kind of demo.
