Neverwinter Nights 2 Official Thread

Just played it tonight and have to say I'm hugely disappointed so far. The camera is enough to drive you to suicide (in all the modes), the graphics are both dated and rough around the edges, and it's an absolute joke the system requirements are so high......Oblivion looks like it's from 10 years in the future by comparison, yet the required specs are the same? And there's already a patch dated 27th Oct

I'm feeling very ripped off right now, tbh. The only good thing I can say is that the LAN co-op play is nicely implemented. I've played tons of RPG's with the missus in co-op and this has been one of the easiest to get going with. However, as a game, it's so far miles behind NWN1, BG, DS, Diablo, etc. I hope it improves and I can get into more!

“I'm surprised the game is so demanding... the screenshots don't really look all that amazing... I mean the best of which are:”
I heard it’s the lighting and shadows which cause the high requirements just lowering the shadow settings gives a missive speed boost. Also we are at a stage now where screenshots no longer do games justice due to the lighting and shadows. Games like NWN 2 and various others look far better in motion then screenshots.

A nice parcelfarce man just delivered my Lawful good edition :D

Shame I have to finish sorting the house out before I can install it, otherwise the house will be in perpetual decoratorage for ever.

Just played for the last few hours and to be honest, I really enjoyed it. Ok so some of the camera is a little dodgy but its good fun none the less. Looks to have a lot of potential as well for online.

Think picking a rogue though might have made me rubbish at fighting.

There's no might about that one, unless you're sneak attacking, a rogue is a poor fighter, but a good skills based character. The best rogue tatic is to find a tank henchman to hide behind then attack away to get the sneak attack bonus :)

I totaly agree with you. Oblivion looks better in screenshots compared to say Gothic 3 which looks better in-game due to the lighting being more dynamic. I won't go into how badly G3 performs forcing me stop playing and sell my copy. Dark Messiah is another game that also looks better than the screenshots.

Great game and nicely implemented its just a pitty its been programmed by a set of muppets using what looks like VB.Net

The SDK and most of the game was developed in C#

Are there any sorcerers that can join your party. If not I may roll one as my main character as I am rather partial to the number of spells you can have in your slots. Usually when all your other magic users have run dry the sorcerer is still blasting away.

I also enjoyed playing a fighter cleric in NWN so I am not sure which build I will go for.

I really cant wait, i played the first a lot for a very long time.. only online though, surpirsingly ive never played the single player :|
