However, this is a Bank of ENGLAND note. If it was bank of BRITAIN, fair play.

Would they be from the Royal Mint in Wales then? :)

TO all intents and purposes the Bank of England encapsulates the UK. Some regions have their own variants - Wales has a pound coin for example :p

I don't see why people are trying to cloud the issue by taking the words on the notes literally.

The main thing that annoys me is the whole devolution movement. Its absolutely fine by me that NI, Scotland and Wales have their own governments that can dictate their own policy, but they should not be able to dictate English policy, nor should they sit in the English Houses of Parliament. Its either complete devolution or none imo (I'd prefer none).
Well said.

I think a discussion like this would not have existed 10 years ago before New Labour pushed this unfair discrimination upon the English by allowing MPs to vote on English issues from Scot, NI, Wales but not vice versa!
Blair goes on and on about diversity and tolerance and that communities should come together etc.. yet devolves parliaments within the UK, effectively pushing people away from each other. Not to mention preferences for the things in Scotland (medication) and Wales (different tuition fees to the English).

This is why most people moan (if that is the right word) about a Scottish person on UK/English money when the Scots have their own money!
English people are being pushed aside time and time again for things that are not English, that is why we moan!

/RANT

Oh ok! - the words on twenty pound notes aren't meant to be taken literally... phew, this should make debts easier to settle!

I dont really care tbh, i dont really look at them anyway. Only to get them out of my wallet to pay for goods/beer/drugs/whores etc etc :p

Our $5 note is the best in the world

If you fold it right it looks like a whale with a willy in its mouth:p

Some of your attitudes make me sick. It's BRITISH money, and Adam Smith was a BRITISH national. I think it's quite cool that someone from my home town is going to be printed on money :).

Kirkcaldy, unlucky :p :)

It was a Scot who founded that Bank of England LOL.

Oh dear, a new breed of Keyboard Warriors... Keyboard Patriots, where were you when the army needed people in Iraq?

(im British by the way).

Truth! LOL! The fact that the Bank of England is essentially a Scottish creation is really making me start to think that most "patriotism" is nothing more than conformity without any real purpose behind it. Who care's if there's a Scott on an English banknote? Why is it bothering people?
