New £20 Note

Got one today..

Was confused for a second when that came out of the machine(until I remembered this thread..)

Thought it was a Euro/scottish note..

My friend got one earlier and said he thought it was a voucher and something went wrong(idiot :o)..

I had several people hand them to me at work, they're quite nice :) They need to update the rest of the notes now as they look out of place.

Our money looks infinitely better now than it did when I was a kid

Anyone want to guess what practical purpose the little hollow yellow dots (top right) serve :)?

They are on all notes. Sometimes you need to look really hard, but they are they, on euros as well.

The point of them is that if you photocopy, or scan a note in say, Photoshop 9, it detects these patterns and tells you that you can't copy it, or prints a big COPY acorss the image. It's a form of electronic counter-counterfeiting procedure.

My that is an ugly note no matter who is on it. Look on the bright side, try spending it somewhere where they are used to Scottish notes.... they might see Adam Smith and give you change for a £50 :D :p OK maybe not but it's a nice idea

Personally I find it bizarre that people are so bothered by it. Certainly wouldn't bother me if someone like Brunel, Christopher Wren or Frank Whittle was depicted on a Scottish note.

As long as we can use it to buy a carry-out on a Friday night does anyone really care who is on the bank note? I mean, other than the usual posters complaining about Scots taking over England?

9/10 people wouldnt even know the person on the new note was Scottish unless it was pointed out to them.

so they should put someone on that people know. Id rather have someone like prince william.

Ive heard many people just in shops saying things on the lines of "these look like euro notes, but with pound signs on"

Im sure we said we didnt want the euro, why make our money look like it?
