New 8800 GTS price + info

I wouldn't go by any benchmarks till decent drivers are out for it.

the fact the GT beat the GTS in crysis is enough to show that the GTS should be performing better and could possibly be 10-20% better in all other games as well once its sorted.

of corse it could also be an anomaly or just crysis needig patching. but id rather be hopeful

Please note that the other GeForce 8800 series are using the optimised Nvidia Forceware 169.09 driver for Crysis, where as the GeForce 8800 GTS 512 card is using slightly older Nvidia Forceware 169.06 drivers which were supplied with the graphics card, as the 169.09 will not detect the new 512MB version of the 8800 GTS.

This appears to have had a negative impact on performance in this gaming title, as the GeForce 8800 GTS 512 is slower than the 8800 GT and significantly slower than the 8800 GTX at the lower resolutions. While the drivers may be causing some performance issues in Crysis, they will not have an impact on the other older games.

If the GTS gets a 20% boost from drivers the GT will aswell.

so with an 8800 gtx 575mhz at £204 ex vat, what price would a gts 512mb at stock need to be to make one or other the better purchase?

Yes i know that but the GTS has everything the GT has and more. Its illogical for it to do better.

It'll be on cryteks side that the improvements will come from I think.

probably and id expect there will be with the next patch or there will be a public outrage lol. But i dont see how crysis coding could cause the GTS to perform worse then the GT as it is coded to make use of whats on the graphics card, not specificaly for each one like drivers.

It was using older drivers.

So when the GTS comes out we shall see it with better drivesr and see it should be faster. mmm but faster then a gtx? i doubt it as it doesn't have the interface or memory. (which i said all along and got scorned for

mahah triumph!)

Just becayse the GTX has more memory and higher memory bus does not mean its faster in everything. The older drivers only affected crysis.

Just because the GTX has more memory and higher memory bus does not mean its got more fps in everything. The older drivers only affected crysis.

I know it wont be in everything. But anything the GTS beats it in the GTX will still have decent fps in.

The only games that require such power graphics cards to be playerble are those which have a lot of big files and intensive graphics, which always benefits from the bigger interface and more memory.

The GTS has some advantages over the GTX, it has more texture power I think, there is some units it has more of and I think it has more texture fillrate.

Perhaps we will see when the real bennchmarks come out which one is more useful then, but considering the GT is close to the GTS it would suggest they dont benefit it as much perhaps due to not having the interface/memory to utilize them properly. i dont know enough about it tbh.

You said they had the old drivers. I ment with the new ones when the GTS is actually released.
