new Astra website

I rather like it. Neutral on the rear, and as others have said, that centre console looks too busy. I wonder if lower spec models will actually be better, as they won't have half the junk cluttering it up.

I'm won over by the styling on the front though - looks very nice IMO.

That is a Lovely looking motor but I will have to sit in the drivers seat before I make up my mind on the centre console as I am not sure about all that red lighting. Good effort though I like it.

The latest astra is far from dire (Even mk4+ ...).

We must agree to disagree then. The Mk4 Astra especially is offensively generic and nasty in stock form. It stands for everything bad about motoring and explains why most of the population hate driving.

I think you like to exaggerate to the extent your opinion becomes worthless.

The astra is decent enough, most cars in the range are generic...

I owned a mk4 for 2 years, it returned good MPG, was reliable and I enjoyed ownership. Hardly nasty and funnily enough ... I still love driving.

I owned a mk4 for 2 years,

This explains your bias, much like people in the graphics card forums who buy an inferior product and argue about how good it is.

Sounds amazing.

'It was cheap on petrol and did not break' = 'the car was the perfect white good' = 'the car sucks from a motoring enthusiasts perspective'.

My bias? I sold it 3+ years ago- I certainly don't have any reason to "protect it"... and the fact I actually owned one probably puts me in a better position to have a proper opinion of the car.

I think you are confusing peoples requirements for a car Fox, if I wanted something to "go fast in and have fun in the twisties" I wouldn't buy a diesel mk4 astra? But I wanted something cheap to run, reliable and good looking (I hear you all laughing), and for that purpose it was excellent- couldn't have been better.

Please stop trying to make massive statements that don't work :)

same point stands for people like you who claim the focus MK1 was far inferior... when really, deep down, it simply wasn't and the reviews back this.

both decent generic small family hatchbacks that did the job well.

He keeps saying Dynamic.. This is dynamic, that is dynamic!

Looks good though! I'd buy one..

Current focus is only saved by its facelift, the mk2 compared to the original was incredibly bland, just about everything that made the original stand out had been toned down to a large extent. That being said id still say the mk5 astra looks better than the current facelift focus, The focus looks good from the front but then you see the side..and that says it all.

I like the look of that. 1.6 turbo should deliver just enough performance too.

Why are their automatic cars so inefficient though

I agree, it simply wasn't inferior and yes this is what all the reviews said as well.

Not really the same though, there is no 'bias' from me as I do not own a Focus and intend to never own a car from this class ever.
