New Audi Interior (NSFW!)

I sort of like that, but..

How is the passenger supposed to use and operate the navigation system etc?

At last it's better than the godawful 'Tablets are cool! Lets make our cars look like we've got a Tablet fitted to the dash' approach Merc take.

Look no twiddly nobs!

Dont like the dash. Looks like a kids drawn a car with the dials for wheels, missed the roof out then scribbled all over it with every pen it can find.

Taken from the A7 concept shown today also, more like how it will look in a normal driving mode:

Digital dash is great but if that screen fails you are screwed with no analogue options.

Also i'd wish they'd concentrate on their engines and drivetrains (which are coming up to 7-8yrs old at least now). Desperately needing a refresh.

I don't like it. I prefer a display that just has the essential dials and information. That looks dreadfully cluttered.

The A7 photo above is much much better.

I like the concept though think having a display for infotainment/nav screen in the centre dash or a fold out screen (like the A3) is better and more useful. It's great being able to see sat nav directions/change song list using the steering wheel controls on the DIS but to be honest I rarely use the DIS/steering wheel controls for anything other than changing volume, answering calls, next song, trip computer etc.

I think with the map taking up the entire screen this just looks a bit too busy. I'd much rather the map on a screen in the usual location, with a heads up display used for turn by turn directions.

The screen in the A7 concept looks a bit more like what BMW currently offer in the 5/7 series (Option code 6WB):

I'm not overly keen though really, prefer proper dials perhaps with a decent screen in the middle or along the bottom for infotainment stuff.

Not true anymore, the MQB and MLB platform architectures changed the need for cars to share a common floorpan, just common modules.

You'd not call the Audi A8 an A4 in a posh frock, even though they are both MLB platform cars (as will be the new Porsche Macan).

Well Macan is just a Q5 in a posh frock... :p
