I'm with Penh. Stick to a H/T, many ppl fall out in this situation...try and get a cheap0 full susser and miss out on golden buys (like the GT Avalanche) that come with a much better spec than the cheap0 full susser. Entry lvl bikes under £850-1000 should always be H/T imo.

What would you recommend for upto around £450? I think the Hardrock Sport or the Avalanche 1.0 is the best .. but im not good with bike specs

its £400 in the local shop.. but i can get some stuff cheap with it, Gloves, Muck Off etc.. And its £330 or something off evans..but i dont know anyone whos ordered from there... do you order your bikes?

Ive never ordered a bike from there. But there a long standing shop from way back, ive ONLY ever heard of raving reviews...

Id say if you have seen something you like go ahead and order it m8. I think the GT A 1.0 is a nice bike with nice spec for the ££. Dont think there are many others in the price bracket that ive heard such good reviews about....

One of my cycling buddies has a set on his Trek. Early tests indicate some pogo action. Full ride report to come next week.

I have been using 661 gloves for the last 2 years, highly recommended.

Also get some chain degreaser and chain lube. Something like WD40 to keep those cable running smooth too.

I ordered mine over the phone. As long as you know what you are buying and are happy that it will fit then it's fine to order online / mailorder.

I have only had experience with Merlin, Stiff, & Chainreactioncycles. All good.

Dave Hinde has a bad rep.

Gloves tbh, you'll regret mitts once it starts to get cold. I like various makes, top three would be: Troy Lee, Altura and Gore.

might need a new helmet, and is it needed to have one of the pumps that go on your bike? Also..is it worth getting "Winter Gloves" or "Gloves" for the winter, and get "Mitts" for normal use. Your mad wearing Shorts

! id wear trousers lol...also what are good make Helmets (for later) atm i have a Bell... lol

edit: When i order the bike, what should i order with it.. ill go into a local shop to buy gloves/mitts etc. Any other "biggish" things?
