New Bike - Help Choose :D

I have used Fox gloves for the last 5 years. In particular i would recommend Sidewinders. Great gloves, provide plently of grip and are very bretheable. Quite expensive, but i think they are worth the investment.

Id go with the 2006 Avalanche, Rockshox are much much better than suntour's for starters. The 2006 finshing kit is better than the 2005.

ok, gonna cost £400 for that in the local shop..so i may just buy it there... because its something like £500 on the internet. IF the £400 one is the 2006 model that is.

IMO you only really need gloves when it gets below 0c. but thats just me.

The only time I felt the cold with shorts is when it went to -9c here a few weeks ago.

661 / Giro / Met, are all good makes of Helmet.

If you are going on long rides then Camelbacks are great, much better than bottles IMO. you can fit a small pump in there too. Topeak do good pumps.

LMAO - obvious why really Scotty, You dont feel the cold when your drunk :P . The rest of the Sober nation or the Non scottish amongst us feel the cold a little earlier than -9c. You would too if you didnt spend 98% of your time drunk, you drunkard. :P (only joking - obviously)

Ok rant over, i prefer gloves over fingerless, Move grip on the brake leaver's and less blisters all round.

Camelbaks are a great investment as Scotty says, seem pricey at 1st but they are worth there weight in gold.

Mitts for me, but I wear shorts in the snow!
Shorts I can deal with, its just the wind chill on the fingers that gets to me.

might need a new helmet, and is it needed to have one of the pumps that go on your bike? Also..is it worth getting "Winter Gloves" or "Gloves" for the winter, and get "Mitts" for normal use. Your mad wearing Shorts :o! id wear trousers lol...also what are good make Helmets (for later) atm i have a Bell... lol
I carry a couple of cans of hutchinson fast air, but there are various pieces of kit that do the same thing. Probably best to leave getting winter gloves to either the summer, when winter gloves are reduced, or just before winter sets in, so that I can get some improved gloves. Nothing wrong with bell (except the name ;)). I have a Mett 5th element at the moment, but it won't really matter, they all conform to the same standard anyway, unless they're meant for specific riding types like DH or FR.

i dont think id need one...water bottle will do ;) and a shop (obviously) how about saddle bags? also..can you link me to some cheapish..but decent gloves on www.pearsoncycles.co.uk (that way i can walk in and pay) thanks for all the help you lot btw, helped me choose a difficult decision :D... cheers

haha, im from london so it dont get overly cold..ok yes it does.. *looks at gloves*.. also that site reliable to order from?

LOL - took the words direct from my mouth....Id say go for a well respected brand, its worth the investment.

Scotty, what about if he needs a reflective jacket and a handlebar moustache ? Where can he buy those, 'Youngman' !? :)

-Vinny-

There is no need to dis my reflective clips or my orange indicators. Those Spokey dokeys let people know I'm coming if they cant see me already! :p

Chainreaction are sound. I have ordered loads from there! So have loads of people I know! No probs.

I must be honest dude, i dont carry/use a sadle bag and never had. I normally carry a Camelbak sized ruksak. I just find it easier.

Personal prefrence.

The Giant AC is a fantastic bike, Im not biased in ANY way shape or form...It has nothing to do with the fact that i have one...and i love it.

Excellent bike, ive always owned Giant bikes, for the last 8 years. NEVER let me down.

Lights - reasonable priced ones = Anything Cateye, i have RC230's And i have 2 pairs, good lights for the ££. However, they are a little over kill for the road. The new Superbright LED series is good so ive heard.

Prices vary from £825-900 for the frameset alone. thats the 05 frame i think. However, the AC range has changed very little since 01/02, tinkered with the suspension in the 03 range of bikes, and only gave it 2 travel settings. Where the 02 had 3.

Its a nice frame, but building it will cost you a hell of a lot more.
