I've been told that apparently the other drive came onto my side of the road and hit me nearly head on. It would make sense as I remember turning to go on my side of the road, he must have panicked and tried to avoid me then went dead on with me. Not sure how true this is but it makes sense with how much damage is at the front of the car. I think the other driver has been opening his trap about what happened and his story is a bit clearer than mine.
It's at least 5 houses before the bend even begins, never mind the fact you would be able to see the light from his headlights before he comes around the corner.
Maybe it's just the over head shot not showing how bad it is but that junction looks no worse than the junctions around my way.

Really? Were you there? Do you know the car had its headlights on? Is the road flat or does it have dips? The OP had made it to his side of the road and was hit head on, how did he fail? How fast was the other car travelling? At 50mph how many houses per second will he pass? What if he was doing 70mph and lied, how many houses per second then?
