New build won't boot with gpu installed please help

well if you get no signal with pci-e being the main graphic, drivers wouldn't hlp, because it's supposed to have display even without drivers, as said above the other things to test, is updating the motherboard bios and switching the gpu bios botton.

Jack, have you tried a CMOS reset? Usually a button on the MOBO you press - read the mobo manual.
I've had issues with an older Giga mobo (Z77-UD5) before where it just doesn't like a new card being installed. Think once i reset the CMOS, another time turned off and on about three times before it eventually just booted up with no further issues. It seemed to just not adapt well to a card being initially installed.
Your issue sounds more serious but CMOS reset worth a try if not done so already, then off and on 3 or 4 times without touching anything (without removing the card again)

I have posted in that section, I'm really tempted to go to my local shop and buy another card. I took Monday off work to mess around with my new rig and I can't even use it now
You could just do that and return the faulty card for a refund then.
Can you get the graphics card tested in another system? The vast majority of problems I've had like this are PC's are with Gigabyte motherboards.
My 290 Tri-X doesnt work in my Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3P board but my backup 7600GT works fine but the 290 works completely fine in my Asus p8Z68 with the exact same components.
Dont get me started on their flaky BIOS and their cold boot issues from older gen hardware.

Hes tried it in another machine, his friends, and it does the same, so cards faulty, i wouldn't bother updating the BIOS, as another card worked fine, so theres nothing wrong there, and you could potentially brick your board if it goes wrong, so id just return the card.

building a PC with load of new parts from scratch is the best weekend ever.
I've been lucky with my builds and only had a RAM issue that the guy in the computer shop refused to acknowledge - so I had to educate him. This was back in 1996/1997. But got it sorted in the day as it was a local shop.
I imagine it really sucks when it does not work. Then then return process is a pain (i.e not instant) and that just takes the edge off the whole experience.
Hope you get it sorted asap.

I would do this. OCUk are pretty good, but it'll still take time.

Where abouts are you ? perhaps a kind forum member can help you out ? if you were local to me i'd happily help. Stay away from local pc shops.....
I would do a 14 day change of mind and order a different card. Too much risk taking the first one back.
And at £50, too much risk involving a shop.
My first guess after reading the thread is that the card wasn't inserted into the mobo slot fully. Perhaps the blanking plate chafing against the case in a way that the 380 card you tried didn't.

did you do any of this ? because changing default on board graphic to the pci-e in the bios or bios update are the first things we advised you, and i have a feeling you didnt try it yet, because you didnt update us on it.
I did the cmos reset and disabled Intel gfx.
Only thing I didn't do was the bios update bexause someone else in thread advised against it l. In case I bricked my mobo...
However after speaking with ocuk on the phone it looks like that's the last thing to try....
Which I will do tomorrow when I get the card back.
