New car :D

I was just speaking generally, which is how I read joshys comment - I know tons of people do it for fun but I'm sure most "track cars" are built for competition

That's the thing, it's 100% not competitive. I think you're in for a massive telling off if you're caught even timing your runs.

To be fair, I don't think Fox has done any Track days in this sense and perhaps he doesn't "Get it"?

I bought the induction kit very cheap off ebay, compared to new anyway (£120 off new price) but it didn't come with a cold air feed. So it was sucking in extremely hot air off the manifold/rad (loss in power but glorious sound). I eventually got round to getting a cold air feed fitted, it arrived today in fact, which means no more nice sound, but there's a noticeable difference in performance now its sucking in cold air from outside.

Why? Just like any other car enthusiast, i want to get the best performance I can from my car. Its sad that when ever someone modifies a small hatchback like this, they automatically get labelled a chav.

you keep mentioning performance - how much performance is that induction kit actually going to free up? and £120 off? how much was it???

huge waste of money imo

The induction kit cost me £60, they are £180-£200 new, which I agree is a complete and utter rip off, hence why I didn't buy new! I've probably gained 1-3bhp, but it does seem to of made a difference to throttle response. Even if i've gained nothing, it feels like i have, and thats worth £60 imo. People can spend hundreds of pounds on exhaust systems for only a possible gain of 5 bhp ~

Sod it you don't have to justify yourself to people on here. Do what you want :) Some will bitch and some will have done and still do similar things to their own cars.

We could all be grandads driving waftmobiles or we could still like a bit of fun in our driving. Either way no one on here gets dissed for driving a pretty boring barge.

I'm pretty sure thats what you are intending to do?
It is yes, but that wasn't my point. It doesn't matter if someone spends £60 on an induction kit for 2bhp, or £400 on an exhaust system for 5bhp, its all relevant to taking each step to achieving the final goal, more power.

Horses for course but i wouldnt, havent touched a thing on my car. It's too slow and getting an induction kit wont change that, its just money down the drain.
Its not all about BHP aswell, and not all modifications give you big power like a turbo for example, you have to do the small stuff too :)

thats where we differ :p if i even thought about spending a couple hundred quid on modifying what is a luke warm hatch (it really is, its barely any quicker than my xsara) than id just put that money towards a better car in the first place lol. £500, for 10hp.....not for me :)

Again, its not all about adding bhp. different mods can do different things as well as adding a couple of bhp to the top end

I should hope it's not about adding power, not when the induction kit has added a whole one horse power :p

I probably gained more than that when i serviced my car last weekend

This thread annoys me, all the guy has done is put on an induction kit.

With regards to tracking. Have a look at the amount of Nova's/Corsa's that used to/get tracked and tell me they don't have fun!

And black wheels are planned. But either way so what? He's posted, some people like it, some people dont. Thats life.

They probably dont spend thousands and thousands acheiving that.
