New car - VX220

Awesome looking car. Always wanted one of these.

Get signed up to www.z22se.co.uk, Vocky on there knows his stuff about these engines. His vx220 is in next months TV mag and is very helpful.

If this is your weekend car whats ure week car?
Never been a great fan of VX220's though I have to admit yours could turn me.
Not sure where your getting the 5.6 to 60mpg though, the N/A's no where near that.
But anyway, enjoy it, I would! :p

Edit: Wisebuyers agree to 5.6sec, power to weight I would disagree

got a company astra diesel and my gf has a golf tdi.

can you explain more about the power to weight ratio not making it do 0-60 in 5,6secs?

I don't agree. I much prefer the look of the Elise but I agree with the concerns regarding S1 engine........:p

5.6 to 60mpg ok 5.6 secs from startup is an impressive claim regarding fuel economy...........:pwait that must have been a typo!;)

A weight of 875Kgs and a BPH of 145 would surgest a 0-60 of around 6.3 seconds ( not taking into drivers weight/fuel weight/transmission or traction for that matter)

You cannot accurately estimate 0-60 based on weight and power becuase it doesn't take into account grip, gear ratios, etc.

Mate, you just HAVE to show me photos!!! The one colour combo + car I want is S2000 in black with Red/Black interior *dribbles*.

But I can't afford that yet, so a VX220 with red/black interior will probably give me a semi..;)

George make sure you come along to the National meet trackday.

Plenty of info on the vx220.org.uk, and the type116.com forums.

Definately recommend the Lotus on Track activity days, only £20 for a day of fun, well worth the membership fee.

How are these for tall people? I remember watching JC clambering into one but he often exagerates the point for the sake of comedy.

Think im somewhere around 6'7"-6'8". Would probably look a right old tard getting in one of these.

Good choice :)

You can get the seat and indeed the entire interior retrimmed for a surprisingly good price... give the Lotus trimshop a ring and they'll sort you out!

Handling should be excellent in the wet. If it isn't get some better tyres and get the geometry done.

PS entry and exit really ain't that bad unless you are as tall as Clarkson.

I think it looks miles better than the Series 1 Elise, which looks like a cheap plastic kitcar, and it has a proper engine as well.
 The S1 is a classic shape :) In S160 guise with the Victory alloys, raised rear spoiler, and Lotus sport suspension ride height... together with a nice matching hard top... it looks the mutts nuts!

my 6'5" uncle got it it but his knees were nearly touching the dash!

at 6'8" i would have thought ud be struggling. have a go in one and try!

I have a vx220 soft top, my girlfriends brother is 6"7 and tried to get in. it took him 10 minutes, and his knees were literally in his chest..

Very nice car. Welcome to the family :) Why de-badged though?

That car will cost you a fortune, be warned. It's a never ending tale of upgrades. Mine's in the garage having Nitron Racing Reds fitted, a new black diffuser and geo done!
