New cat 6 wiring in house

Thanks, i was told I would need to purchase a 16ch recorder to cater for the 5 cameras but wasnt advised on the playback...so 8fps is very poor based on your comment?
Do the normal recorders that were made/compatible play back at 30fps?

Looks like im back to the drawing board with purchasing analogue cameras and DVR.... and its way too late now to go down the route of changing to CAT 6 as everything is boarded up... proving a lot more difficult even with all your help and the others on this forum.... maybe i'm wanting too much from the cameras (to my defence its because i saw the IP cameras with all the features i wanted)

What’s making your choice limited is your desire to have PoC.

Dahua have an 8MP TiOC with alarm, 2-way Comms etc. and they do a wide range of XVRs that support 8MP cameras.

The PoC cameras I posted about will run on an 8MP Hikvision DVR with a separate 12V power supply, which you’re cabled up for, it’s just a tiny bit of extra termination.

You can have everything you want, and I completely understand your desire to have PoC because it’s just that bit easier. If you want those cameras working ASAP though, your best bet is to get a 12V power supply and hook them up like that.

Yes, i thought it was the easier option, esp as that was what I was expecting with PoE... but it may be time to come out of that mindset.... i've gone through the posts trying to see any cameras you have recommended but I could not find any Dahua have an 8MP TiOC with alarm, 2-way Comms.
Also so I understand correctly are you saying the cameras: https://www.cop-eu.com/hdcvi-cameras-dvrs/cameras/DS-2CE12UF3T-E(2.8MM) If i run a separate 12V power supply I can get them same Hikvision cameras powered via the 12v supply rather than the DVR?

I've got an account with https://www.cop-eu.com/ but not yet with https://www.securitydynamics.co.uk/

If you’ve got an account with Cop then they’ll sort you out.

Cop no longer do the Dahua range, they have moved over to Hikvision.
Trying to get an account with securitydynamics

I will ping you further on here if thats ok, when I can start putting together all the items I need to get this set up complete.

Thank you so much for all the help you have been great

HI All,
After all that, and mess up with builders - I have decided I will attempt to feed through the CAT6 via the coaxial cables, by securely taping the CAT6 to the coaxial and pulling the coaxial cable at the other end, hopefully this works as I'm sure the builder has not secured the cables down anywhere?!
With regards to which CAT6 to purchase, i firstly presume best to get 300m roll, any suggestions which to buy?
As I have been alerted to some new Hikvision cameras which have everything I wanted without the faffing around of power etc. via the coaxial set up:

4MP DS-2CD2347G2-LSU/SL ColorVu Fixed Turret Network Camera W/ Mic & Speaker- Two Way Audio

That Amazon cable isn't copper for a start, and there's no published datasheet or a list of standards that it complies with. It's also stranded cable which is not what you want for terminating into outlets and patch panels.

Good quality cable costs so little in comparison to the total amount of effort put into installing it, it makes no sense to buy unbranded stuff that you can't easily make repeat purchases of.

So looks like its worth paying the extra and getting the cable lee1101 suggested, unless someone can provide links to any others they would recommend?
This would be only to run the camera cables for CCTV - I already have the cat 6 running around the house for normal use (untested though)

I can't speak for everybody in the thread, maybe they have more patience than I do, but seeing people put time into giving you exact specifications for what you need to buy only for you to return with something you've found and ask whether it's suitable without doing things like comparing data sheets or even Googling for the companies mentioned to find the suppliers yourself is getting a bit boring.

That cable from an electrical wholesaler is more expensive than the CCS Cat6 from Cable Monkey that has been recommended, and there is no datasheet available. It will most likely work, but nobody can recommend it as they are unlikely to have bought it before.

This forum is a useful source of information but it's not a free place to get all your questions answered - you have to meet people half way.

I agree, hence why I thought I would look at some myself, as apart from the 1 recommendation of cat6 cable from lee1101 I did not see any others I should buy, you mentioned CCS cable from Cable monkey, I looked at there site and found 2 suggestions both different in price so I assume different quality:

Cat6 UTP Solid Core PVC Cable supplied on 100mt reel or 305m Boxes
&
305m Orange B2CA Cat6 Cable

So again I was not sure what was being recommended - I don't know enough details about what is good and what is not in cables so looking at data sheets hasn't helped me and ideally I was looking for the best price available. Meant no disrespect to you or anyone else who may have been offended, if that's how it came across.

@WJA96
I searched for your recommended 'Kenable' and found this on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/26514742...store&ssPageName=STORE:HTMLBUILDER:SIMPLEITEM for £99 for 305m... again not sure if its exactly what you were suggesting, but thought I'd check?

If what @lee1101 has suggested is good enough and value for money of course I will go and purchase?

I’m certainly not recommending Kenable, but there is fundamentally nothing wrong with it if you buy the right stuff.

For surveillance cameras you want outdoor grade, so its usually black to fend of degradation by UV light.

Then, you need to decide if you want UTP or FTP. FTP has foil wrapped around the conductors. For this application it doesn’t matter so long as you pick the correct matching RJ45 plugs. For punch-downs they all seem to be the same for UTP or FTP.

if you’re buying Kenable, then buy it from Kenable!

https://www.kenable.co.uk/en/networ...reel-utp-305m-black-003923-5055383439232.html

Or the same thing from CCS (Cable Monkey)

https://www.cablemonkey.co.uk/cat6-cable/22-ccs-cat6-utp-external-cable-ldpe-outer-sheath.html

The other terms you might see are LSOH/LSZH (low smoke zero halogen) which is what is required for places that could have LOTS of cable that, if they catch fire, could burn and cause smoke. LSOH don’t smoke. You don’t need that, so don’t pay extra for it.

Hello everyone,

due to personal reasons this project never got completed, and I know its been a very long time, but I'm looking to complete and just getting it over the line.

I have my accounts still active with:

I was looking at the ranges recommended to me a couple years ago by folk on this forum, and I was wondering if the CCTV are still the best options for me, with built in mic & 24/7 colour view:

Thinking 5 of these

HAC-ME1809HP-A-PV (https://www.securitydynamics.co.uk/hac-me1809h-a-pv.html)

and 1 of these as I have a side entrance and can't see the above dome camera fitting on a side wall:

HAC-ME1509TH-A-PV (https://www.securitydynamics.co.uk/hac-me1509th-a-pv.html)

I probably don't need mic in all of them maybe 3, would other options be cheaper, which only had 24/7 colour view?

Also should I be buying an electrical box for each camera, as all but 1 of these cameras will be going on, outside, I don't see it mentioned in the recommendations in this forum, but heard it in a video. Would folk here recommend too?

Thanks
