I know this should not be done but could you not "buy" a cheap as chips processor to try and then return it?

I exchanged a few emails with Overclockers and they sent me the RMA guidance, but I have yet to return it as I've been working away this week.

I did put the old CPU, motherboard and RAM in and it works fine.

That's annoying as all that does is narrow it down to the CPU\RAM\Mobo.

Are you still using the same storage drive?

No actually I used an old SSD.

If you have the time you could do a backup\clone of the new drive and then do a clean install on that and test.

See if you still get the same issues.

Just so you can all sleep soundly now, Overclockers RMAd my CPU and I got a replacement of the same model, which works fine now.

Now the system is up and running I would make sure your bios is fully up to date in case their is fixes to stop this happening again. (if you have not done this already)

When the OP updated that it was the CPU I did check the OP of this thread to see if he had a Asrock motherboard as some have been killing AMD CPU's for a while now.

Hopefully all is sorted now.
