New crysis screenshots.... WOW

They would do. A lot of those maps are specifically made for taking screenshots, taken at highest alpha multisampling (not in all cases though) settings, or scaled down from ultra high resolutions. It's mostly to see what the engine is still capable of doing, albeit not exactly at playable rates... it's just showing it can render all those vistas and effects together, but there's a reason nobody's retail Crysis actually resembles those screenshots.

The maps in the screenshots aren't even remotely playable - you'd turn around and all you'd see is an empty void because that's all that consists of in most of them. It's like a hobbyist kinda thing in the Crysis community.

Yah. Think about it like a 3D animated movie. They only draw what needs to be seen, and can take as much time rendering each frame as they like. That one frame may look incredible, but it's by no means going to be playable.

They do look amazing but I reckon we'll be waiting for the hardware of 2020 to play it.

Because that's what's going to make Crysis 2 crap... no wait if it's anything like the first it will be the gameplay.

Crysis has a cracking story/gameplay.

"blah blah antigravity blah aliens blah blah rubbish game"

Get over it, that level was just a little blip in a great game, I quite enjoyed it anyway.

What level? I didn't get that far because it bored the crap out of me. It was supposed to be something new in the FPS genre. Perhaps I got my hopes up and expected too much.

Its an action fps.....you point your xhair at stuff and shoot.....and it did that pretty well. It had a great story and technically its still light years ahead of anything else - the only thing that let it down was the bugs. Dunno what else people were expecting tbh.

Wow screens look nice.

That said, I really don't see the point in making a game that isn't going to run on current hardware. For god sake, make games that can be played well TODAY, without having to spend £3k on a machine.

Wonder if ati/nvidia pay Crytek to make the game have a very high spec so they will sell more GPU cards......

as ati/nvidia most of made a fortune because of all the people that bought brandnew highend GPU cards to run crysis..

Good point, but I'm glad someone is pushing the envelope.

I agree to an extent.

It is nice to see a company showing us what can be achieved.

That said, it seems that Crysis was created as more of a tech demo, rather than an FPS for us gamers. Only now, nearly 2 years after its release date, is there hardware filtering through that might run it completely maxed out.
