New Dell IPS S2721DGF 165hz gaming monitor

I replaced my olde s2716dg with one in September was sad to see it go after 4 years but the s2721dgf is a good upgrade I think . I bought the other monitor after finding out about the bad ips panel probs in those days my S2721dgf after calibration etc has no probs .

Today I found out the reason my left eye is annoyed and not my right eye, is because I actually needed glasses. So there's that.

My vision is a bit weaker on the left side, which makes sense. So uhm if you guys gets eye strain then maybe check your eye sight. Not saying that's why, but it could be.

I ordered back on Nov 24 and my orders currently still says "Your order is confirmed and is about to enter Production" with an expected shipping date of 25 Jan. Not too fussed about the 2 month wait. Just hope there are no probs when/if it eventually turns up

Yeah I don't mind waiting, I'm looking for a 2nd monitor, I currently have the TN 144hz g-sync 1440p version, so I think getting the same monitor but IPS as my main monitor will be a nice little touch.

OK guys been using it a lot since then. I get no eye strain at all anymore so I'm glad I never returned it.

However, I'm not quite sure if it's my OCD or I'm really noticing this, but it seems like the monitor isn't hundred percent aligned.

By that I mean the display isn't 100 percent straight. When I see the bottom shell where the display meets it looks like there's a gap on one milimetre. It's not a lot, but Ive been noticing I think the text etc goes down a little and isn't straight.

However, this could be my imagination as I sit around an arms length away from the display and feels like I could sit away a little further.

I had the exact same problem with an Asus monitor where this was a common issue, but this monitor has almost no ips glow and no dead pixels, and even so, should 1 mm or below be noticeable so you wouldn't sit relaxed in front of it?

I just had a chance to install the new s2721dgf, looks like there is no dead pixels. Is there any protecting cover etc on the screen itself? It looks like there is 2 gray dots on the edge of the monitor (like something is stuck on the screen it but there is airgaps under it, eg. screen protecting cover) so I can't be sure if there is something to be peeled off or not. And one last thing, the sides of the screen has shades, like it's grayish on the edges (all 4 edges), is that expected?

bonus question: how do you change the RGB settings? My preset mode is set to Standard, and it doesn't let me change any RGB setting. If I choose Custom Color Preset mode, then there is Gain, Offset, Hue, Saturation options but not sure which one to change to match recommended settings.

Gain. But don't use rtings settings on recently delivered monitors as the colour profile is different.

Just when I find a monitor I want, it's out of stock aghhh

When was this monitor released?

Summer/Autumn 2020 from what I can gather, I think a combination of covid, brexit, and it's competetive price point Vs specification made sure it went out of stock faster than they could pump them out as soon as the wider consumer market decided they all wanted one, I bought mine in the nick of time judging by the comments on this thread. lol

My current major issue is, looking at the monitor gets me dizzy. Like I use it for sometime, and when I look at the wall, it just makes me feel weird. Didn't had this issue before with any monitor to be honest. Is there any solution for this? Brightness is down to 0% already. I also reduced refresh rate to 144Hz also but doesn't seem to change much. I can't pinpoint what's the issue actually. I read some other people having similar issues, so it must be a known issue.

Thanks. Any recommended settings for the recent delivers?

No, they all need to be configured differently. If you don’t see any problems then just leave the colors at default settings.

Brightness and contrast should be fine to set to recommended settings as a base, then tweaked to your preferences and environment.

My monitor seems to be damaged now.

This may sound weird, but I noticed I began to get extreme shoulder pain and that the display is somehow stretched at the lower right.

It came slowly with the pain, and I didnt know why.

It somehow felt like the display was stretched, because no matter what I do I can't really feel like I'm in the center of the monitor.

Then I noticed in the bottom of the screen, where the display meets the plastic shell around the display, there's like 0.5 to 1 mm in difference. It might not be a lot, but I think that's why I can't aim anymore and why I feel I can't sit in center.

I don't know what to do. I think it's stretched, but otherwise the display is perfect. I fear if I get a replacement model then there's some dead pixels or insane ips glow.

I had the exact same problem with my Asus monitor. I really hate how they make these borderless monitors because it seems to be a common issue on all of them.

A question to other people who has the monitor: does it also seem like there's a difference in each side of the monitor regarding how close its inside the shell?
Also, if you clean the monitor, does it come with a weird "sticky" sound in the middle of the monitor? Mine gets a really weird sticky sound when I take a cloth and gently cleans it.
