8th Generation design and fully updated to Ivy Bridge.

Certainly seems like a fantastic design, the only question mark for me is the chosen graphics chip, seems a little weak?

Only thing that baffles me a bit with this - sure it's thin at the edge and looks nice at that angle... but the middle is just as fat as ever so it doesn't use any less space and when you're sat in front of it, well it doesn't look any different to before.

Also, no DVD drive (presumably as a consequence of the above)? I guess I might just be behind the times but I still use discs all the time, more so writing than reading but still - suddenly the sexy new iMac looks a lot less sexy when I have to stick this underneath it.

Well, I figured we'd see Kepler graphics but I'm glad to see more than just the 650M they have in the MBPs.

640M & 650M on the 21". 660M & 675MX (with an upgrade to 680MX) on the 27".

I'm currently lusting after the tricked out 27" with the upgraded 680MX  That'll be a beast :D

awful upgrade, If you go onto the macrumors forums everyone goes crazy on there as people were waiting for this upgrade and basically got a slower machine...

Why don't they put a better GFX card inside it, its holding it back so much ffs.

I fail to see how it's slower ?

Sigh of relief from me. A Retina 27" would have had me handing over my cash. I'm making a dedicated gaming machine anyway so the gfx thing has never been an issue, although I can see why people are h

Should also add re: the GPU, the 680mx is a beast of a mobile card, the regular 680m can play basically any game on high-ultra at 1080p (30fps) and the mx version is faster still.

Did they show an internal shot of the motherboard and layout like they did the MBP 13? I imagine it's cramped as hell in there and you just couldn't get the mx chip in without giving it a fat ass and huge cooler.
