*** New Design 2012 iMac 21.5" & 27" ***

These look gorgeous, I can't remember the last time I used an optical drive for anything so for me personally the omission is a non-issue. I'm thinking of saving for one of these and buying the new iPad for portable use, instead of just saving for the Retina 13" MBP.

I think the new design is stunning  I've been saving for almost a year and I'm really glad I held off from buying a previous generation model now.

I'm looking forward to finally moving away from Windows :D

I'll be looking to buy a 27" model probably with the new 1TB Fusion Drive. I don’t know what CPU or GPU option yet though. I'm also going to be moving my data from a RAID5 Windows Server box to a Drobo FS which will give plenty of scalable storage and Time Machine backup for the iMac.

If you can afford it, the 680MX is a blistering quick chip as far as mobile chips go.
More then capable of running everything on the market on high settings / 30FPS at 1080p

Time be a-changing, you don't hear that sort of thing said about graphics on Apple hardware very often!

hm well, normally it wouldn't be a big issue but the gap between the 660m and the 680mx is just too big to pass up if you can afford it, regardless of if you 'game' or not.

I don't game at all on my mac, its just game benchmarks are the only real way to illustrate the difference in power between the chips :P

No optical drive is a bad move IMHO. While i dont use mine much on my 2009 imac when i want to rip a purchased CD to my NAS i dont want to have to faff around with an external drive.

Don't be silly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You've got to re-buy and download it from iTunes! thought everyone knew this :p

*if only I had the cash though...:p

It looks amazing, and to be able to get the CPU/GFX upgrade would be

Looking forward to seeing some reviews and pictures!

I thought it would come out this week so already have some money put away for this. 2 more months I should be able to afford a beast of a machine !

  • 768GB of flash storage
  • 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz)with 8MB L3 cache
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX graphics processor with 2GB of GDDR5 memory

This is the one you want! :D
