'New' EK block very scratched

Some pics of your own?

May have been a stocking error, was a DSR/RMA that slipped back into the regular stock instead of b-grade?

a DSR/RMA that slipped back into the regular stock instead of b-grade?

i thought all the DSR/RMA products that were in good condition went back into stock ?

only the ones with visible marks/missing packaging/missing accessories went into b-grade?

(this could be completely wrong, i just assumed considering ocuk are a large etailer, therefore would have items coming back from customers frequently but relatively little appears in the b-grade section)

I was under the assumptions if its been opened its classed as used and does not get put back in retail stock? I do remember Gibbo saying the 670's he tested pre-launch would not go into stock and would be kept for customer pre-built machines.

B-grade, maybe not, fairly sure they do have 'A-Grade' as well? Perhaps this is where DSR/RMA returns go?

i remember reading that too but i thought it was a one off

id be interested to know actually, not just from ocuk but general retailers too :)

Me too, as I said it was just an assumption on my part, I tend to view something thats been opened as used/ex-display.

The base had the sticker saying remove before use and it was inside an EK sealed bag. The box itself had a cut seal though. It is exactly like the one I linked to. The whole surface is covered in swirl scratches and there's one large graze which stands out taking up most of the bottom half of the block. It appears dirty as well. My 5 year old swiftech block looks newer than this.

I can't take a pic of the base as its already installed. Very ****ed off though. The base had the sticker saying remove before use and it was inside an EK sealed bag. You can return it under the DSR if you are not happy. (assuming it is in within 7 days of receipt)

The Block should have an EK warranty sticker too stuck on the side touching the base and the lid, if this was missing I would have not used that block , it says EK viod if removed or to that effect.

I guess a lesson learned where not too shop!

I've had a retailer (Not OCUK) send me used goods before and I've just sent them back. I always have a habit now of taking pics when I receive any item. I may even start taking videos just in case an incident like the OP's should ever happen.

I wouldn't have even installed it if it looked like that in the first place. Send it back.

I've sent an email to where I bought it see if they have an explanation. I didn't check for the warranty sticker but chances are it wasn't there as it would have caught my eye when I was examining the block. If I decide to return it what's the quickest and easiest way to drain the loop?

Off site linking to other retailers is not allowed even if it is 3rd party. If its in a EK sealed bag bugger all to do with retailers its manufacturers fault.

DSR's state

A contract must be carried out within the time limits agreed
with the consumer as stated in the terms and conditions. If
no period is set then the statutory time limit is 30 days from
the day after the consumer sent the order to you. If this is not
possible you must advise the consumer before the deadline.
If the goods didn’t arrive in time your consumer is entitled to a
full refund, including the postage and packaging, unless they
agree to a new deadline to give you more time.

Consumers’ cancellation rights

The stage at which you provide your consumers with the
required written information will affect when the cancellation
period ends.

Where the DSRs give consumers the right to cancel an order,
this right is unconditional and begins from the moment the
contract is concluded. Unlike when buying from a shop the
first time that a consumer will have an opportunity to examine

goods purchased by distance means is when they receive
them. When a consumer cancels a contract to which the
cancellation provisions apply they are entitled to a refund of
any money they have paid in relation to the contract even if
the goods are not defective in any way.
The time limits for cancellation are as follows,
for goods:

• seven working days (not including weekends or bank
holidays) after the day on which they receive the goods
– provided you give the consumer the required written
information no later than the time the goods are delivered

• seven working days from the day after the day on which the
consumer received the written information and within three
months of the goods being delivered, when the written
information is not provided at the time of delivery, or

• three months and seven days from the day after the day
the consumer receives the goods if you do not give the
required written information at all (or give it after the three
month period mentioned above).

Any way this is the business DSR PDF -> http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/general/oft913.pdf

If some ones going to state DSR state them properly or don't state them at all. If you have to click on a Small box that says "i have read and agree to the terms and conditions" when you placed a order, your seven days could have all ready started or you may have wavered some of you rights.

Ive just finished a 7 day course and still am trying to get my head around DSR, so some one on a forum stating you have 7 days is not all ways right.

A Word of warning as well. Even if you mean good by your post Legally you could be sued for giving out the wrong advice even if it is in good will.

There has been no mention if it was ordered from us or not, if it was then you know where we are if you need help! :)

Edit: Just noticed the order was not from us.
