I'm on 2.12.84 and have been on the latest releases with Lollipop notification shading and Lollipop theme styling for several weeks?

I've download the latest 2.12.84 WhatsApp from the Play store. I understood they had implemented chat backup to Google Drive from version 2.12.45.

However I haven't got the new chat backup tab, I just have the option to save locally. Has anyone else had this problem or known how to resolve?

I can't find any tips or anything via a Google search. I'm on a Nexus 6, with the latest 5.1 update.

What does the 5.1 update fix for Xperia devices? Oh wait nothing needs fixing because everything works just fine

Drive backup for WhatsApp was in the pre-PlayStore versions, it doesn't appear to be in the latest official release.

It's not about the fixes, but more animations and tweaks to boot. But then how would you know...

Does anyone use Google's Messenger for SMS rather than Hangouts? Is it any good? Hangouts is.. ok. I just never want to use it for non-SMS :confused:

I recently switched from Textra to google messenger. I like it, and you can set a conversation colour for each contact too.

no complaints here although textra is probably more feature rich.

Messenger is better, even Google don't really think that Hangouts is worth using for SMS.

I use messenger as it ties in very nicely to google wear and my moto360.

Works really well and is nice and simple too. SMS doesn't need to be complicated. Only thing I wish it had was an option to schedule when sms messages are sent.
