New essential Android apps thread

Yep. That's my advice. What's yours ?
That's stupid advice for someone whose literally just bought an Android device.

Just treated myself to a nexus 7 2013 and being my first android purchase i am clueless to know what are the essentials to put on it.

Any advice guys? Slowly going through this thread but its going to take a while :p

A few decent apps are ES File Explorer a brilliant file manager

QuickPic a great picture viewer

MX Player Probably the best video player

I might finally switch over from Boat browser to the Chrome beta on my Nexus 10.

It has a nice UI although it's still a bit laggier when scrolling compared to Boat.

I'm having issues with hello sms guys, in that I can't send picture messages... not sure if its a phone/network issue or what, but its not having it! I can receive okay and I can attach and send but they never make it to my recipients? I still get charged though :(

Any recommended replacements to hello? I can't stand the appearence of the stock sms app.

I'm with 3 and I've got a sony z1 compact.

Check your APN settings. Can you send/receive mms with the stock app?
