New essential Android apps thread

Oh, so you mean log yourself in on your friends, buy the game yourself and let him play it with your Google Account? Must be a good friend I guess.

No.

I mean add your account as a payment option while they are still logged into their account, buy the app & then remove the payment option.

Just like you can add a paypal/bank card & then remove it after.

Nothing hidden just as I have explained it.

[Edit:- It was just an idea I have no idea if it'll work or not!]

Yes, and that way, I would be AMAZED if you can do that. When you select payment method, why would you be able to select a Google Account?

In fact I've just checked, you can't that I can see.

If it had worked, I'd have set up a few more accounts and signed each one up to Google Rewards.

I have £50 credit on my account that came with the pixel. I'm not using it all in a hurry so wanted to gift some apps.

Not to worry.

You can gift ebooks that are on the Google Play store. There is a little present icon which then lets you type in the email address of the recipient.

I'll BT you £5 if you gift me a particular £10 ebook i want to get :)

is there an alarm app or some other way, of when an alarm is set it automatically turns on do not disturb, and turns it off again once alarm is dismissed?

I don't get you.

A scheduled alarm to turn things off. Is exactly the same as a scheduled quiet time.

You can also use "do not disturb" which will turn itself off after x period of time. Which is also a schedule, just with a ad hoc start time, when you click the button.

who said anything about a scheduled alarm.

what im after is when an alarm is set it turns on do not disturb, when alarm is dismissed automatically turns it off.

yes i can set do not disturb manually, i know that already, was after a more seemless integration.

I don't see the difference in using tasker and using the built in quiet time. Unless your phone doesn't have a full featured quiet time functionality. Then tasker can fill in the gaps.

Its probably different on different phones though. I think on mine you can set do not disturb for calendar events and also for things like night time. you can also have exceptions say for emergencies. So turn off work notifications but keep family ones. Only allow certain phones calls through. Things like that.

because there's no set times, and theres no set up event where it ges of the alarm.
so how can i set up a schedule. not sure how you aren't understanding this.

disturb for calendar events and also for things like night time
neither of which is what i'm trying to do.

Tasker.

It has a learning curve.

you aint wrong there, any help

I've set up two tasks
Bedtime - Do not disturb mode: Priority
Wake - Do not disturb mode:none

then two profiles
Alarm clock > Bedtime
Alarm Done > Wake

both set to on, how ever it says no active profiles and nothing happens, when turning alarm on or off.

I don't really know what you are trying to do.

I just use do not disturb for x amount of time when heading into a meeting. I use do no disturb, so when I come out of the meeting and I forget to turn it off it does it, itself.

Windows phone had this for WiFi. if you have bad wifi you could turn it off, use your data connection, but it would come back on after an hour or such. So when you came back into a decent wifi signal.

as i said,
im trying to automatically turn on do not disturb when i set an alarm, and turn it off when an alarm is dismissed. rather than having to do it manually.

my alarm changes daily, so it can not be scheduled.

sleep like an android does something like this, but is more about sleep tracking, when you start the sleep tracking it can put the phone into silent mode until your alarm goes off.

The problem you'll have is that most alarms don't assume that your only turning them on when you go to bed.
