It has been covered previously, but the text/font/size is hard to read and I can't spend more than 5 minutes on the forum without getting a headache.

Also, at the root page of the forum, there is no identification of which categories have new posts in them since your last visit - that was very helpful on the old design as you could see in an instant where there had been new activity and where nothing new had been added.

I'd also suggest having a poll to see if people prefer this design to the old one, because, as far as I can see, there is no real benefit to the new design and several more significant drawbacks.

Not sure if this helps.

On a thread where you have unread posts.
Clicking the yellow envelope icon goes to the first unread post (the first one with a 'New' tag in the top right).
Clicking the thread title does the same.
Clicking the time/date under the username on the right hand side goes to the very last post in the thread.

On a thread where you have no unread posts.
Clicking the grey envelope icon goes to the first post in the thread.

Maybe it's simply because the new version hasn't taken in to account latest viewing time stamps, but when I'm clicking on some of the Sports logs, it's taking me to dates such as 31st January - which I have already posted in since that date.

Ahh bummer, still no attachments so we can't paste images.
Use IMGUR. I can't see us hosting attachment, ever.
I've had a look at imgur's api at Christmas, I think it would work for us to have a paid account with imgur and write our own xf addon to use them for images (so from your pov - it's drag and drop - but imgur deal with the storage and processing).
If you want an example of how the imgur integration works well have a look over at superuser.com:

It doesn't look any different to me...?

I'm not sure such a poll would get the response you hope it would...

I think custom avatars would be alright if they had to be a set size and automatically had a black and white filter applied. The mods already have to police signatures and I doubt very many are inappropriate, so it shouldn't increase moderation requirements. Especially if the requirements for the avatar file are set in stone so it isnt even possible to apply one too large or too small.

I personally used to like the "Gangster" theme, but I'm growing quite bored of it now too.
