Hi all,

I have posted recently about building a PC for 1k but I am still struggling. I have a budget of £1600 and need the following items:

  • All PC components and case (would like minimum 1TB ssd)
  • Keyboard & mouse
  • 2 x monitors (1 for streaming)
any advise welcome.

Thanks

Are these monitors any good, seen at a good price of about £130?

If your going 1080p and 144hz then your looking at intel . But ryzen is cheaper for streaming !

Intel tends to offer the streamer best frames and ryzen for its price the viewer gets the smooth experience ( price wise i5 9600k 6 core 6 threads Vs ryzen 2700 8 cores 16 threads)

I do prefer intel, but open to suggestions.

if I could get a basket for all the above at that budget that would be great thanks guys. looking to buy in the next week or so.

@orbitalwalsh I just realised, there isn't a PSU :(

and I still need to get this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...red-keyboard-and-m65-pro-mouse-bu-02w-cs.html

So what do we need to shuffle about to get a PSU (Modula preferably) and keep it in budget (1600)?

Thanks

A Vega 56/64 would save a few quid, so either the Sapphire Vega 56 Pulse or Sapphire Vega 64 Nitro etc. The Corsair RMx 650W would be a good choice for psu. This Acer monitor is listed as Vesa compatible.

Still £30 over but switching to a Vega 56 would solve that issue. Still a pretty good gpu for 1080p/144Hz.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,630.14 (includes shipping: £26.34)

Formula 550w.

Vega you'd need 750w ideally .

Formula is Simi modular, i.e the cables to have to plug in aren't modular (mobo 24 pin, 8 pin CPU )

Also Vega is only 2 years warranty Vs 4 of the Gaming OC 2070. Think rtx 2070 has 1080p lead

Just offered to buy all this to my nephews and get it built and his dad told me my nephew cant have it until July :) lol doh!

Looks like it can wait until the 7th now :)

3700 will be slightly better for streaming.
1080p performance won't be as good as Intel, but should be better then current Ryzen 2700x !
Also cheaper or same price as 9700k . Board might be a tad more though .
Also might have Navi GPUs

Only couple days until flood of reviews to see if Intel has anymore anything going for itself than higher power consumption and shipload of vulnerabilities needing patching

As @EsaT has mentioned hold out a little. Mainly till the 9th due to RTX 2060 Super being launched as well !
Gigabyte rtx 2060 Super Windforce is £380 and just behind rtx 2070 performance so massive savings there !

Looking at 720p performance Intel will most likely keep 1080p crown but not by much .
You'll be looking at £320 odd for Ryzen 3700x and £180 for Gigabyte X570 Gaming X . Ram pricing at £92 odd for 3200hz ram .

Key point if to sort out monitor ! Going 2060/2070/Vega/Navi is begging for at least 1080p 144hz gaming monitor or 1440p 60hz screen !

Apologies !!!! Didn't realise it was two screens ! One basic and one gaming.. my bad !

So far, with intel and changing to RTX Super 2060 it looks good, would bump up the cooler but would have to check case depth etc.
Also change to NVMe 1TB intel for £9 more

Monitor-wise i'd recommend the MSI Optix range ; I have the MAG271CQ and MAG24CR and I've been very happy with them; it's a VA panel (which should be an improvement over TN).
Also, for the case you could try the Phanteks P300 or P350x. Don't know much about Zalman but I'm pretty sure any of the 2 Phanteks cases would be worth the extra money.
