New Gaming PC - £1600 spend

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,641.68 (includes shipping: £31.86)

Intel is still top dog of 1080p, even with new ryzen though it's damn good ! Above ryzen would be ace for streaming for the viewer. Intel would be better for the streamer

Top tier PSU on sale and 10 yr warranty . Could half the SSD and grab 1TB HDD .
Couldn't resist the 240hz monitor as you'll be driving over 140fps on some games, that 2070 super matches my 2080 rtx card ... Insanely good pricing !
Games like overwatch and CS:GO you'll be on the 170fps

Both builds are ace , and one is slightly better then the other on certain features.

@tamzzy is highly thought of on here . Wouldn't steer you wrong so give it some damn good thought !

no point streaming if the viewer can only see one frame every now and then...lol. defeats the whole point of streaming. :P
pretty sure most viewers will swtich off if the stream is a slide show.

Top tier PSU on sale and 10 yr warranty
noisy according to reviews :(

Friends stream with 9600k just fine and my brother with 9700k, although I did land him with 5.3ghz core haha .

Guessing depends on quality of the stream, settings etc . Fun y how most streamers still on i7 4 cores... And streaming to 2 other blokes . Haha .

I do like the idea of watching a friend of stream, only for the fact you know their location to end them and then just troll .

Just wishing AMD wouldn't restrict AIB with reference cards. Looking like it won't be as bad as Vega , somehow Nvidia gets the flack for their FE cards but amd can get away with months of reference cards. Have a feeling should open up competition a bit more .

@orbitalwalsh @tamzzy

Thank you both, i really appreciate the help and advise.

£1600 is to much, it needs to be £1500 - Doh! can we do it again please.

I would like two Drives, HDD as a second for storage as he will need it for the videos clips saves etc...

Thanks

yes.
as far as i'm aware, ocuk can provide this service prior to delivery if you ask.
@tamzzy - not sure on that one. I posted in CS Forum last week to get clarification re BIOS flash during initial release as there was conflicting info on the CPU forum (GASP!)

My below points were all clarified by an OcUK representative after he got confirmation:

To clarify:
  • it's not a service being offered on initial release
  • it will be available on an ad-hoc basis if requested a month or so after release (when initial demand settles)?
  • but even then will not be overtly advertised on the store web page - so only available to those who know/have the sense to enquire?

May still be worth asking, though...

@tamzzy - Will this MB still need a bios update?

yes.

May still be worth asking, though...

Board has BIOS flash back, just need to use a USB drive with the BIOS on it, and press the button on the I/O shield before you install the RAM/CPU etc.

"Flash BIOS Button: Simply use a USB key to flash any BIOS within seconds, without installing a CPU, memory or graphics card."
