New Gaming Rig Advice..

Right ok same thing is happening. Noticed now that on the first boot the CPU fan starts to spin but stops and doesn't come back on. On loop 2 and 3 it stops for a brief second and starts up again.

We may be able to work around that for quick testing purposes...

But for now:

Unplug the case PW cable.

Unplug PSU and touch the CLR_CMS pins for a few seconds (clearing CMOS again).

Plug back in.

Then touch the PW pins to power up - last time.

Ideally we would clean the HS and CPU with isopropyl alcohol and then take out CPU - re-sit CPU and then pea size blop of thermal paste in middle of CPU and reattach HS.
I suppose I could buy some but if it ends up not working it's a bit of a waste isn't it.

How sure are we it's the motherboard at the moment?

But, you could remove the HS take pictures of the bottom of the HS and the top of the CPU and i could work out if there's enough thermal paste to make contact for testing purposes.

Or we try again another day - you buy some isopropyl alcohol (or isopropryl wipes would be fine) and some thermal paste (generic would be fine) and test then

Yes and no - you would need some for your new build if you ran into issues. You can use nail polish remover - if it has a high alcohol content for testing purposes.

As confident as i can be without trying a different PSU or CPU. If it was my rig and the MB was under warranty - i would be packing it up for return about now.
