New Gaming System

The only things I would add to Ak!ta's build, if you are determined to spend more money is perhaps a bigger SSD and HDD if you need it?

If you are intending to OC then perhaps a bigger CPU cooler?

Or for £200 you could even get a custom water cooling loop but without having experience/confidence I would steer clear of that idea.

There are plenty of good cases available, for cheaper.

Xfire is OK, as long as you have a decent PSU, which it is.

You can postpone overclocking till later, a 2500K is plenty fast at stock.

With a cheaper case, that leaves enough for a maybe a 128GB SSD.

Hey All,

I've gone Akitas spec, but with the following changes:

Asus GeForce GTX 580 Matrix Platinum 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **Supplied with FREE Batman: Arkham City PC game** - £389.99

Antec 902 Nine Hundred Two (V3) Ultimate Gaming Case (with USB3.0 Support) - Black - £109.99

This should be ok right?

Nice case, Nice card. You could go ultimate and get the Antec 1200? ;D

Although it is an extra £40 ish

Edit - I've only heard rumours but couldn't you overclock a 480 to run the same as a 580? Well near enough? Not a huge nVidia know it all so don't quote me on that. But I'm sure I've seen reviews saying you can clock a 480 to similar standards?

Could be a cheaper method around it.

fancy and all but as said you'd get more performance from 2x 6950s for the same price point. but seems you were set on the 580 from the off.

if you haven't ordered yet then you may want to consider going for a sub £150 card for the time being with the next gen of cards due out over the nex 3-6months.

btw what res monitor will you be using?

Hey Fowler

It's just a few people have mentioned issues with XFire and i don't wanna to be stuck a few months down the line :(

I currently have a Hanns G HL231 / 23 inch / Widescreen / LED Monitor.

Cheers

I agree with going for a cheaper case. Cooler Master CM 690 II Lite Dominator @ £67 is very popular and I gather easy to work inside. Gives you a few more quid to spend on your GPU.

personally i dont skimp on the case as it is something your going to look at ALL the time, its right there infron of you, well and the monitor, mouse and keyboard ofc.

White 600T for me when i order and decide what i want
