New graphics card

People are asking for help, stop ramming your opinion as fact down their neck Dave, jesus christ, this is peoples money you're messing around with.
OP, the GTX670 is your best bet, I say this as an owner of a 7970, previous GTX680 and 7950 owner.

GTX 670 is the 670, they're the same thing.

you deffo wont regret it M8 because to be honest on 1080p only, it's the one card i should've got..... but i succombed at the last moment to the Dark Side :D

Oh give over.
I'm surprised you're not telling the OP how to varnish his GPU.

Good looking card that 670. Some nice specs on her. I just want one that will last a while and will enable me to use ultra settings on games such as Battlefield 3

Chris

no i'm being serious now, not spiteful like you

I noticed when you linked to the 670.
Good job :p
Although, I wasn't being spiteful

It'll run BF3 nicely.

Either card will do fine then. I would get the 670 if you don't intend overclocking , but the 7950 if you do.
At stock the 670 is the faster card but the 7950 can surpass it with a decent over clock.

The 7950's have quite a lot of OC'ing potential in them, but I wouldn't say the 670's don't.
My 7950 crapped out at 1100MHZ.

You can't overclock the 670's by much as the 70ºc thermal throttle will reduce the overclock. FACT

OP's money, OP's choice, but I wouldn't be recommending a 670 as it's not just a lower binned GK104, it's a nerfed GK104.
And OP, Martini is regularly suspended on here for his rants, so would take anything he says with a pinch of salt, he also changes graphics cards like the wind changed direction, and seems to have endless problems with them.

As far as I recall on my GTX680, the throttle limit merely lowers the clock speed by X amount (Down to the next tier)

So, at 80c mine would go from 1260MHZ down to 1247MHZ for example, that drop in clock speed pained me.
And LOL Dave, spare me the BS, regularly suspended here for my rants? Get off it.
Endless problems? I've never had a GPU problem.
Spare the **** Dave.

the trouble is his budget is 311 quid.... which means he can only afford the cheapest 670.... now this one aint as good as that VTX 7950.

so for his budget it's a no brainer...unless of course he considers the GTX 580 !!!!!!! there is one here for 230 quid

Either one of these;

The 670's requires a little less power, and as a bit smaller/ cooler.

The 7970's come with 3 games easily sold for at least £25 making it about £30 cheaper. Is bigger and requires slightly more power under load.

With all cards overclocked on average the 7970 beats the 680/670 in few games and isn't far behind in many others.

I say unless you want 3D Vision or another Nvidia feature save money and get the 7970.

I'm out, let the AMD trolls reign.
Nice to see you trolling/spamming/posting on this forum since your perma ban over at the other place PcPlod.
Take note OP.
