The new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980/970 is powered by the next generation NVIDIA Maxwell Architecture, giving you incredible performance, unmatched power efficiency, and cutting-edge features.

Maxwell is the most advanced GPU architecture ever made, designed to be the engine of next generation gaming. Inspired by light, it was designed to solve some of the most complex lighting and graphics challenges in visual computing. For the first time, gaming GPU's can dynamically render indirect light using the new VXGI (Voxel Global Illumination technology). Scenes are significantly more lifelike as light interacts more realistically in the game environment.

The GTX 980 is the worlds fastest GPU and the GTX 970 offers the most advanced performance in its class. Each delivers 2x the performance of previous-generation card, bringing new gaming experiences to virtual reality, and ultra resolution 4k displays.

Enable the detail of 4k monitors, on a 1080P display. DSR produces smoother images by rendering a game at a high resolution, then downscaling it to the native resolution of the display using advanced filtering.

GeForce GTX 980 and 970 cards support tear-free, super-fast NVIDIA G-Sync monitor display technology including 4k. Together, these technologies provide the most immersive and competitive gaming experiences possible.

Wow, £300 without a back plate.

Is the plus edition the same but with a back plate? £320 is more expensive than the Gigabyte G1...any reason to go for this over the G1, Gibbo?

Had one and what a pile of poop lol very tiny and tacky compare to the G1! Gibbo even said they look cheap and nasty!

The other problem is the fan is a jet engine as it kicks in at 60c so starts at high rpm to cool the card down.

My first and last Evga card.....

Thanks for all the complimentary comments guys...

On the issue of the price I will raise the recent exchange rate fall of the pound against the $. The prices of both these products are actually really competitive but as they are being bought at the new rates the price looks a little high just at the moment.

i feel once you see the pricing settle down you will view the pricing as far more competitive.

Some of the changes we have made to these models are really positive giving great extra room for overclocking. I will try and get some further data published tomorrow on the new cards.

Evga is so overrated and overpriced.

Not really. No one buy it but Fanboys these days. Their cards are crap

There is an element of truth there. You pay over the odds for a product which isn't better in comparison, doesn't mean it's crap. I'm sure the cards work fine. You're just paying more for the EVGA sticker across the top of it :D

TBH I think youre paying for the customer service and warranty?

Although Evga customer service was spot on for me offering a brand new sealed card if i RMAed within 30 days to them, the card itself is really tatty and nowhere near worth £300!!

I paid £258 for the first model and it looks like a lower end model compare to the G1! Anything above £200 deserves a backplate imo!! If most of AMD can sell their cards with backplates then how come these greedy swines cant? I mean ive seen 7850s with backplates for crying out loud, it should come as standard!

Then theres the plastic shell, why not metal? The packaging is filth! It comes inside a plastic container in a box! No foam no antistatic bag, nada, plastic container in a box lol!

Evga to me, are just charging way too much for what they give you, you can grab a much better quality card for the same price so why bother?

Agree. When I looked over the OCUK reference 970, with it's metal casing, I was very impressed with the quality of it.

Yes.

Go and look (not that you need to I;m sure) at the KFA2 970 at about the same price, night and day, even the 'cheap' ones like the Inno3d @ £260 are better than this rubbish. Wouldn't touch EVGA these days, they've gone the Corsair PSU route, build up a good reputation then cheap out.
