New Iphone NO MMS

It's been discussed.

MMS isn't big in the States.
Apple are trying to push you towards email etc.

I don't use it personally, but I do understand that the lack of it is annoying!

I think if they had a better camera on the iphone then MMS would become something that they suddenly have interest in.

Surely the lower res the camera the better for MMS though. It's not like a 5MP pic is going to be sent through MMS it is going to be all compressed anyway.

People don't like having to give out email addresses to have to send a photo. Much easier to send it via MMS.

Fair point, though anyone I'd want to send an MMS to would have my email address already!

Aren't photos heavily compressed for MMS anyway? The iPhone shrinks photos for email purposes, I'd guess they'd have to be further shrunk for MMS, so i wouldn't have thought camera quality comes into it.

That's true. It is compressed to a set standard.

Your missing my point.

The camera harks back to 2005, if it was a decent one I am sure Jobs would spend 30 mins banging on about how good it is and will revolutionise MMS as we know it.

I don't think I've ever taken a picture with the iPhone camera..

In fairness it's not something I care about on a phone, not when a decent SLR is so cheap anyway.

It good having a half decent camera on your phone for spur of the moment pics, the V2 Iphone camera should have been as good as a K800i at least IMO.

Its a camera for snap shots sake, not an SLR.

I agree, I wanted a better camera for when I am out and about and don't want to take a camera for the inconvinience.

Personally I have never sent an MMS in my life! So I am not bothered if its supported or not. All my friends have email addresses with either a iPhone or blackberry so I have no need for it. I just like the whole email way of sending things, it comes naturally to me. Plus its cheaper.

Again I have said this before, I think MMS will eventaully fade out, and apple have done the right thing.

Some people use it some people don't. Time will tell.

Apple have always made the big moves, removal of floppys, removal of the optical drive on the MacBook Air and now no MMS?

I personally think it the area and target audience of the phone, those who Apple have in their minds eye use email instead.

I think we can be fairly sure that there will be a downloadable MMS app from apple available, for a fee of course.

I really don't get why apple would leave MMS out. Even if you don't send them what if someone wants to send them to you? It'd be nice not to have to load up some random webpage just to see the message.

At the end of the day i'm sure that an MMS program is just a small piece of software that would cost apple very little to include with the iphones. The fact that a lot of people are annoyed about it's absence shows that it would have been useful to many people. Leaving it out just seems a bit lazy on apples part.
