New Iphone NO MMS

Hmmm. I would have though this was a very basic feature of the modern phone. I know they want to cut it all down to useful apps but in the UK we don't really take on the mobile email and organisation concept as much as they do in the states.

I don't think it will stop me getting one, my mum tends to MMs me random stuff as does my other half but I hardly send them really.

I put my money on that MMS will be supported, in the App Store, and it will cost you like $10/£5 to buy it.

The hardware can do it, People want it, Apple knows it, therefore money to be made from it.

This way they tailor to the market entirely. Where in the US is not so popular, people won't buy it and won't miss it. Here people want it will buy it and they are happy that there is an option to buy it.

I can live with that. It's the console 101 in economics. Sell the most basic kit you can then charge £$£$ for the peripherals you really need.

Exactly. ;)

An MMS app for both V1 and V2 would be a great move by Apple. Still don't know whether it would happen.

Ayeesh, is this still going on??

If you want MMS - don't get an iPhone... simple as that! Or if you do - wait until someone cracks it and then install SwirlyMMS if needs be..

Personally, I couldnt give a flying whoojitz about MMS!

As has already been discussed umpteen times, Apple seem to have this magic ability to remove dead technology... the floppy drive on the original iMac being the first example..

MMS is useful, I agree - but I don't miss it, or rather didn't miss it on my V1...(now I've sold it..)

Whether it's 'old' or not, it should still be on the iPhone.

It's not a difficult box to tick in terms of things that the phone offers and would be useful for people who do MMS a lot.

I speak as someone who rarely MMSs but it would be nice to have the option.

I think every mainstream phone in the UK market has the capability and every mainstream network pushes it as a service so I don't see why they haven't included it. Being Apple they will have done extensive research and will probably shown as a service that isn't widely used but I don't see it as such a big cost to implement.

Stange behaviour. But as pioneers of setting the standards, they know what they're doing I suppose!

I hardy use MMS, but this alone has kinda swayed me away from getting one. Gonna wait and see what they are like, but at the minute the HTC Touch Diamond is my next toy.

Your missing my point.

The camera harks back to 2005, if it was a decent one I am sure Jobs would spend 30 mins banging on about how good it is and will revolutionise MMS as we know it.

If it "revolutionises" MMS in the way I hope it will, it'll stop people using MMS and start them using email. MMS is so rubbish! 35p to send a tiny image that the recipient won't even be able to see?! Bargain.

That's true. It is compressed to a set standard.

Maximum file size, not standard.

Surely the lower res the camera the better for MMS though. It's not like a 5MP pic is going to be sent through MMS it is going to be all compressed anyway.

Megapixels != Image Quality. One day people will realise this.

People don't like having to give out email addresses to have to send a photo. Much easier to send it via MMS.

who are these "people" you speak of? Have you done research? If they're using the device to its full capability then they'll already have people's email addresses and giving them out won't be an issue.

Its whole appeal is as an all in one device, no one sane carries a separate camera around day to day.

depends what you want to take pictures of - I never rely on a mobile phone camera if I'm going out for the purpose of taking photos. iPhone is more than capable of taking snappy shots.

i wouldnt take my dSLR on a night out!

I don't get the mentality of people who spend their whole night orchestrating posed fun moments in front of an overexposed, out of focus point-n-shoot camera when they could just be having fun. I have a friend that racks off hundred of photos on a night out - honestly don't get it.

people said that when the v1 iphone was released. just dont hold your breath lol

Apple didn't say it, though. Don't rely on what you hear when it comes to stuff coming from them.
