This is the first time I've bought Lian Li, so I'm hoping for something special (especially with that price tag!).

Won't be telling the wife how much it cost - I can hear it now. "What?!!! Just for a case?!!". :D

i know what you mean mate .and it is a lot of money for a case think mine was about £150 .but its well worth it . it might even be the the last case you ever buy. lets us all know how you get on with the build .there are lots of people here to help you now that your a Lian Li owner
;) special wink ;)

Hi, well done deSade, looking forward to seeing your pictures. You won't be disappointed with the A10, it's a fabulous case. SW ;) I hope I'm a member...

Having one last read through this thread before building. The only thing that worries me for my build is the Thermalright Ultra 120 - it is 160.5 mm high, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get the side panel back on the case once installed! (I think I can forget about sliding the tray back in with it fitted!!).

I've got the same HSF, and a PC-A10B coming on monday. I'm running a DFI RD600 though, which means that i pretty much have to orient the HSF up/down rather than back/front anyway in my Eclipse, looking forward to having a nice top fan to blow cool air onto it though.

Otherwise, the fit doesn't bother me, my Eclipse is 2.5cm deeper, and there is way more than that worth of spare space.

would this work...... top 120mm blowing down onto my Ultra-120, 120mm fan fixed to the reverse side of the Ultra-120 to give a push/pull config? Should cool my NB nicely in the bargain, and the hot air will be pulled out the back of the case by the 120mm rear, 120mm blower, and IceQ3 cooled GFX.

Hi there.
i have more or less left my case fans as they are .the top case fan blows down on to my T.T i also have the T.T blowing down as well .the NB on this board gets very hot so this is the best way i have found to cool it .without the top case fan on i get temps of about 35 and soon as i turn the top case fan on it drops to 30 .

I put mine together last night & thought long and hard about the HSF placement. There isn't enough room to have the Ultra 120 face towards the rear exhaust because of the top case fan (at least not by my measurements!), so I had to install it in a north/south placement.

I did think about placing the fan under the HS - to 'pull' air through, but didn't think it would prove very effective, so discarded that idea & put it above.

There may be some issues having the top case intake fan & the HSF so close to each other, but it seems okay so far. Any suggestions for other fan placements/directions would be appreciated. :)

The only other issue was that one of my matched sticks of OCZ PC2-6400 Platinum seems to be duff & I can only boot with the other 1GB. RMA methinks!

PS. I know the cabling's all untidy - that's todays job!

my mobo is the DFI RD600 though, which means i will be unlikely to be able to fit the fan between the top fan and the HSF, thus the push/pull. Also, my HR-05 is really close to the HSF, and will benefit from the air pulled through the HSF.

The other option is to reverse the rear and top fans, and have the Ultra-120 fan pushing up to the top fan, which will extract the hot air. Not sure what that would do seeing that the blower will be firing hot air out the back, which might get sucked back in by the rear fan.

BTW, looks like you have a Noctua on that Ultra-120, do you find it has problems with the restriction of the HSF? I cant feel much air out the other side of my Ultra-120, and was thinking of investing in a fan that resists backpresure better (wide spaced blades of the Noctua have problems with that i think). Not that my temps are BAD, they are pretty good, i just hope i can improve them further, especialy the load ones (52C after 10hrs Orthos, E6400 @ 3.3Ghz 1.425V).

The Noctua doesn't seem too bad - it doesn't exactly blow up a storm through the HS, but temps are kept nice & low on the CPU. Admittedly, I haven't started OCing it yet!!

Hi desade, I think that your arrangement would cause issues for both fans as both fans can create a vortex, or air 'eddy's'. That might cause them not to work as efficiently as they are designed too...

I thought that may be a problem - what solutions are left to me though? I could mount the fan under the HS to 'suck' air through, as simonnance suggested? I suppose I could even unplug the top case fan?

Any ideas?

you could compare the temps of sucking and blowing, and use that which gives the better. I plan on playing with the config a little to see what gives me the better temps.

This looks a nice case but i'm wondering if i'll ever find a reason to replace my CM 201 i've been using for the last 4 years or so.
